  • Last week, our Legal team, in partnership with Poder Latinx, hosted a successful free Citizenship Clinic and Info Session! Attendees at the clinic received assistance with the application process, checking their eligibility for citizenship, and they were able to get many of their questions answered! During the info session, attendees learned about the requirements for citizenship and the naturalization process. A huge thank you to our dedicated Legal team and incredible volunteers who made this possible! #AdvancingJusticeATL

  • We invite you to join us and our Georgia Immigrant Rights Alliance (GIRA) partners for another Immigrant Rights Thursday (IRT) to speak out against harmful bills this legislative session. As we continue fighting for a better Georgia, it is important that we oppose bills that threaten the liberty, livelihoods, and safety of our community members. The event will start with a brief program to discuss harmful bills, offer tips on talking with lawmakers, and share thoughts and questions. Afterwards, we will guide attendees to talk with their lawmakers at the ropes. The event will be from 9 am to 11 am in room CAP 125 at the Georgia State Capitol. People of all levels of experience are welcome. Register at bit.ly/irt327 and come out to have your voices heard!

  • Asian Americans Advancing Justice condemns the detention of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, a lawful permanent resident, by ICE. Khalil was arrested on March 8, 2025, separated from his wife. Khalil faces deportation in retaliation for his advocacy for Palestinian rights. This unlawful action undermines due process and free speech, reflecting the Trump administration's dangerous overreach. We stand in solidarity with those speaking out and defending the right to free expression. #StandWithKhalil #DefendDueProcess #FirstAmendmentRights

  • Last month, Advancing Justice-Atlanta and CAIR-GA announced at a press conference the filing of a federal Title VI civil rights complaint against the Fulton County School District (FCSD). The complaint alleges that FCSD violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by failing to address persistent racist, anti-Palestinian, xenophobic, and Islamophobic harassment and doxing of students and their allies since October 2023, resulting in systemic failures to protect Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim students from pervasive discrimination. Our Litigation Staff Attorney, Samantha Hamilton, said, ""Children deserve to be protected by the adults who are tasked with their education and care."" Advancing Justice-Atlanta and CAIR-Georgia demand FCSD cease its pattern and practice of enabling discrimination of Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim students as well as their allies. This includes ending the practice of ignoring harmful harassment perpetrated against them by their peers and families, teachers, and FCSD administrators. ?#AdvancingJusticeATL
