Good news for healthcare providers who offer telehealth options: Congress has extended Medicare telehealth flexibilities that were first introduced during the pandemic, but only for another six months. "Some of the pandemic-era flexibilities have been made permanent, but others still operate on temporary waivers," writes Healthcare Dive Reporter Emily Olsen. "The uncertainty stemming from another short-term extension is also an impediment to telehealth use, telehealth groups and providers say. Health systems may struggle to justify further investment in virtual care if reimbursement isn’t clear, and other insurers often follow coverage decisions made by Medicare." Everyone at AdvancedMD works hard ... but we also know how to play hard?? ???? To celebrate the successful rollout of the 2025 Winter Product Release, our Product and Technology teams gathered at a local bowling alley to "rollout" some strikes of their own. It was a fun night for all, especially for our fiercely competitive CEO Amanda Sharp who won the high score for the evening. Turns out, she's not only a great leader, but also an exceptional bowler ???? To make sure everyone was included in the fun, we also hosted an online game show for our remote team members. Congrats to all who made the AdvancedMD Winter Product Release such a success ??

Does your private practice regularly recommend genetic cancer tests for at-risk patients? According to Elizabeth Swisher, MD, primary care doctors do not regularly perform routine screenings for cancer susceptibility genes in primary care settings because, "Genetic testing is often considered too complicated and primary care doctors already have so many things they need to address." Dr. Swisher is the lead author of a study that evaluated more than 90,000 patients from 12 different primary care practices to determine the most effective approach for integrating genetic cancer screenings into primary care programs. "The study tested two methods," writes Medical Economics Assistant Editor Austin Littrell. "In the point-of-care (POC) model, patients completed a cancer risk questionnaire when arriving for an in-person appointment or prior to a telehealth visit. In the direct patient engagement (DPE) model, patients received letters or emails inviting them to fill out the questionnaire online." According to the study findings, more patients from the POC group completed the risk assessment, but a higher percentage of patients in the DPE group completed the genetic testing. "The results suggest that, while in-person screening reaches a broader population, direct outreach appears to engage those most likely to follow through with testing," writes Littrell. In our recent ebook, we share the top ten hacks that savvy practices leverage to help fortify their financial stability. We highlight high-impact/low-resource-intensive actions you can put in motion today, starting with ... ?Optimizing patient screenings and wellness checks ?Evaluating outsourced billing options ?Prioritizing self-serve capabilities to give patients more flexibility and control over their healthcare experience Best of all, the ebook is free to download today at: https://lnkd.in/gtmRrZgb #PrivatePractice #RevenueCycleManagement #IndependentPractice

Does your private practice's admin team include a full-time biller or coder role? Physicians Practice has released its "2025 Staffing & Salary Survey" and it's full of multiple insights. One interesting finding: 31% of medical groups have as many as two to five billers or coders on staff, while 38% employ, at least, one. When asked about salary levels for billers and coders, 30% earn between $40,000 and $50,000 annually—less than 10% earn more than $80,000 annually according to the survey findings. The survey also revealed 69% of respondents reported that their staff received salary increases last year. Among the survey respondents who reported their practice did not increase salaries, 31% cited "Decreasing reimbursements by payers and patients" as the reason.
