A little behind the scenes from the POV of the Robot Overlord. I'm in San Diego running a pair of AIR AutoPilot? instances for Kings vs Bulls up in Sacramento for our friends at NBC Sports California. We're testing a couple of new camera positions; ISO tracking of the head coach on one robo from the slash position, big man on the floor tracking from a stanchion mount on the other. Once the target is selected, the robos operate fully autonomously. These positions present some fresh challenges. It's much more complex for the Visual Language Model to track these targets with the faster pace closer to the action and non-stop occlusions. Still some fine tuning to do but even at this early stage, nothing else on the planet comes close to AutoPilot's visual tracking capability.

What do you want autotracking to capture with your camera robotics? Humans? Monster Trucks? Dogs? AIR's proprietary Visual Language Model (VLM) doesn't care what you track. Part way through the course, the camera operator changes framing to select both dog and trainer. The VLM has no problem keeping both in frame through the reminder of the course, even when the dog is obscured through the tunnel obstacle! Unique in its flexibility and accuracy, our VLM understands the entire scene and can follow your desired object with no pre-training or third-party data. The broadcast AI revolution has arrived, and it’s not just for Tier-1 productions anymore. Last weekend, Advanced Image Robotics (AIR) completed the first broadcast-quality autonomous robocam test using our AutoPilot? AI, in collaboration with INTENNSE. The test featured a 5-camera shoot with only 3 production crew members on-site, showcasing the capabilities of AIR’s remote control and Visual Language Model (VLM). INTENNSE, an emerging OTT tennis league, streamed their pre-season Jacksonville vs. Tampa match on February 2, utilizing 5 AIR One robots equipped with Z CAM E2-M4 digital cinema cameras. Robots on the Baselines, powered by AIR AutoPilot, autonomously tracked players and captured ISO shots. Two additional remotely-operated Sideline robots covered the coaches and audience. All video and audio feeds, as well as robot control and configuration, were managed over a standard GigE Ethernet network, switched using OBS, and streamed live to the INTENNSE YouTube channel. AIR’s IP-native ecosystem enabled the heavy compute required for the VLM to be processed entirely in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure. AutoPilot configuration, camera shading and painting, and engineering support were all remotely handled from California and Michigan, in real time. With AIR AutoPilot, live productions of any size can now capture stunning multicam video at a fraction of the cost and complexity, making high-quality remote production more accessible than ever.
