What a week! Wrapping up here and heading back to Boston today. Reflecting on an insightful experience at the 2024 International Workboat Show in New Orleans, I was reminded of the complexity and ambition behind the marine industry's journey toward decarbonization and Net Zero. Sessions covered an impressive range of topics, from next-generation cleaner fuel solutions to the multitude of international and domestic regulations that industry leaders are gearing up to meet. It’s clear that the marine sector is committed to navigating these changes with resilience and innovation. While much of the discussion centered on emerging fuels like hydrogen, LNG, battery electric, and ammonia, it’s crucial to remember the pivotal role low-carbon liquid fuels can—and should—play in this transition. Low-carbon liquid fuels offer a safe, reliable, and cost-effective pathway to significant emissions reductions without requiring massive infrastructure overhauls or compromising operational performance. These fuels have a unique position in supporting the marine industry's needs now and in the future, blending the drive for cleaner options with the practicality demanded by a working fleet.
