?? Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed a landmark state #CleanEnergy bill into law today. ? Said United’s Kat Burnham, “This new law cuts the red tape that has long-stymied clean energy projects, opening the door to new jobs and lower energy costs. This is the kind of leadership other states should be looking to follow.”? ? Key provisions of the law include:? - Streamlined Permitting and Siting: Consolidates permitting processes and creates predictable approval timelines to facilitate clean energy project deployment.? - Grid-Enhancing Technologies: Integrates cost-effective advanced conductors and innovative resources to improve grid reliability and performance.? - Energy Storage Targets: Directs utilities to competitively solicit 5,000 MW of cost-effective energy storage systems by 2030.? ? On November 7, the Michigan Public Service Commission took a major step forward to protect heating affordability with its decision to cut back on rate increases and require DTE Gas to plan for a more financially sustainable future.?This means that DTE is going to have to look for lower-cost ways to serve its customers in revised gas infrastructure plans.? ?? As we celebrate the MPSC’s good work, we remember that over 1.6 million Consumers Energy customers, and customers of other gas utilities across the state, are still entirely exposed to the concerning bill trends affecting gas utilities nationwide.?
