We look forward to collaborating with Brightcore Energy on our upcoming Geothermal Energy series beginning on Tuesday, March 4. Brightcore Energy will join experts from NYSERDA, National Grid, New York Geothermal Energy Organization, International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, and TRC Companies, Inc. to provide attendees with the latest tools and resources of the geothermal energy industry. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/eXRNAfhB #SBUAERTC #AERTC #GeothermalEnergy #Geothermal #Energy
The geothermal industry is expanding rapidly, and with it comes a growing need for a skilled workforce. To meet this demand, Brightcore Energy and Stony Brook University's Office of Research and Innovation have developed Geothermal Energy From the Ground Up: A Workforce Readiness Series, a 10-week online course launching March 4, 2025. This program is the result of real industry expertise. Dave Hermantin PE, CGD (SVP, Geothermal), Jonathan Hernández (Director, Geoscience), and Céline Damide (Sr. Geothermal Analyst) played a key role in shaping the curriculum, bringing their decades of experience in geothermal design and drilling to guide participants through the field's fundamentals. Their insights, alongside contributions from NYSERDA, National Grid, New York Geothermal Energy Organization, International Ground Source Heat Pump Association, and TRC Companies, Inc. will equip attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate the future of geothermal energy. Applications are open first to organizations involved in the program's development. Space is limited—apply now: https://hubs.ly/Q037-RXb0. Brightcore, BUILDING. ENERGY. Congratulations to Devinder Mahajan, PhD on receiving the State University of New York (SUNY) Technology Accelerator Fund (TAF) Class of 2024 Award for his work in large-scale hydrogen storage and separation. Devinder Mahajan, professor of materials science and chemical engineering and director of the Institute of Gas Innovation and Technology (I-GIT), and his research team at Stony Brook University developed a single system for storage and release of blended hydrogen and methane that operates under near ambient temperature and pressure conditions. This system is able to overcome the significant challenges related to efficient storage and on-demand release of hydrogen. SUNY invested $425,000 through the TAF to support groundbreaking projects at seven campuses that could have a profound impact on how we treat serious illnesses, safeguard our environment, and strengthen New York’s high-tech electronics industry. On Wednesday, October 9, three Stony Brook University students had the opportunity to see the ?rsted South Fork Wind Farm off the coast of Long Island. Shiue Deng, Abdul Muneeb, and Yuxuan Wu, graduate students of Fang Luo, PhD, sailed 35 miles for a tour of the offshore wind farm. The tour, provided by ?rsted, was especially exciting for our students, as their studies are directly related to offshore wind power systems, cables, and transmission equipment. Thank you ?rsted for allowing our students to be hands-on in this exciting opportunity. #AERTC #OffshoreWindFarm #OffshoreWind #SouthForkWind #?rsted
