According to new data from the Department for Education (DfE), the average caseload per full-time equivalent (FTE) children’s social worker has fallen to 15.4, down from 16.0 in the previous year. While this decrease may reflect positive change, the overall number of case-holding social workers has also dropped. Additionally, the recent update to statutory guidance, which allows non-social work staff to handle some child-in-need assessments, has raised concerns about potential risks to children. The Adult Social Care (ASC) workforce is essential in supporting vulnerable individuals across England, yet many face significant challenges impacting their overall wellbeing and job satisfaction. A recent report conducted by Ipsos, the University of Kent, and Skills for Care on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) highlights the complex work environment of adult social care staff. The study, which surveyed over 7,200 workers between August and October 2023, illuminates the wellbeing, work-related quality of life, and retention challenges in the ASC workforce. Its findings provide valuable insights into the sector's current state and potential areas for improvement. Right now, at least?1.25?million people?in the UK are living with an eating disorder. That’s more than?1 in 50 people?– but the actual number could be even higher. Eating disorders like ARFID, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and OSFED are complex mental health conditions which are often misunderstood, mislabelled or undiagnosed, which can prevent people from reaching out for help.
