Tissue-engineered Rostral Migratory Streams Researchers created the systems by coating microchannel molds with rat tail collagen (Advanced BioMatrix). This new system replicates key features of the glial tube in vivo, and that astrocytes in the system exhibit elongated nuceli, longitudinally aligned intermediate filaments, and enrichment of key functional proteins. Researchers create patient specific intracranial aneursym models using #3dprinting and #collagen. Researchers 3D printed PDMS and Collagen (Advanced BioMatrix) with immortalised human brain endothelial cells to produce in vitro models. The printing was done using a novel "chocolate sacrificial core" method. Read the full publication here: https://lnkd.in/gUCStFhJ

3D Bioprinting a nerve guidance conduit to support the proliferation and migration of dorsal root ganglion neuronal cells: Researchers used PhotoHA? and PhotoGel? (methacrylated hyaluronic acid and gelatin, Advanced BioMatrix) to bioprint the conduit. The conduit was supported within 3D printed PCL fibers. The bioengineered conduit demonstrated high cytocompatbility, cell migration, and elongated neurites. This study reveals that cell enlargement in senescence is actively regulated by actin cytoskeleton remodeling, which also drives the pro-inflammatory senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). Researchers used CytoSoft Plates (Advanced BioMatrix) with different stiffnesses for cell culture and senescence induction. The balance between the SASP regulator GATA4 and the mechanosensor YAP controls RHOU expression, linking cell size to inflammation through the LINC complex. These findings highlight how cellular mechanics influence aging and inflammation, offering potential targets for therapeutic intervention. New study introduces the "3D Flipwell system," a new co-culture model that mimics the gut mucosa by allowing interactions between bacteria, epithelial cells, and immune cells. This system helps researchers study how external factors like nutrients, infections, or drugs affect gut health and immune responses. Using this model, the study shows that Sepiapterin (SEP) can shift immune-suppressive macrophages to a pro-immunogenic state and trigger defense responses in gut bacteria, offering a valuable tool for future gut health research. Researchers used Collagen from Advanced BioMatrix for coating the Flipwell and improving cell adhesion. Hair regeneration study! Researchers help reveal that Wnt signaling plays a key role in wound-induced hair follicle regeneration (WIHN) by enhancing cellular and tissue mechanosensitivity. Wnt signaling reduces nuclear rigidity and reorganizes the cell’s structural framework, allowing better force coordination and tissue regeneration. These findings highlight Wnt's ability to manipulate mechanical signals, offering new insights into promoting scar-free healing. Researchers used CytoSoft rigidity plates from Advanced BioMatrix to recreate a natural wound stiffness. Read the full publication: https://lnkd.in/eUPwXa3V #cellculture #collagen #research

New White Paper: Long-term stability and swelling of PureCol and Nutragen collagen type I hydrogels. PureCol, with its lower collagen concentration, absorbed more water due to its relatively loose polymer network, leading to a greater loss of gel stiffness over time. In contrast, Nutragen’s denser network provided better resistance to swelling, contributing to its comparatively greater mechanical stability during prolonged incubation. While swelling may have caused the softening of the gels, it could be advantageous for applications that benefit from hydrogel swelling, such as controlled drug release, growth factor delivery, and wound healing. In future studies, we will quantify the degree of collagen gel swelling and analyze its correlation with the stiffness data obtained in this study. New study identifies three characteristics of highly invasive ECM regions: 1. Increased matrix density 2. Increased fiber thickness, length and alignment 3. Unique radial fibre orientation Researchers used collagen from Advanced BioMatrix for cell migration vs density studies, self-assembly of collagen fibres assays, and other 3D spheroid invasion assays. These findings highlight how ECM organization shapes cancer invasion and metastasis, offering potential new targets for therapy across multiple tumor types. Candida auris is a drug-resistant fungal pathogen known for spreading in healthcare settings, but how it sticks to the skin has been unclear. This new study identified Als4112, a key protein that helps C. auris attach to skin cells and the extracellular matrix, playing a crucial role in colonization and infection. The ECM Select Array (Advanced BioMatrix) was used to help determine which ECM's the cells would attach to the best (and worst)! Targeting Als4112 or using collagen coatings on surfaces like catheters could help prevent the spread of this dangerous fungus. New White Paper - Matrigel Alternatives for Chemotaxis Migration Assays Chemotaxis is crucial for wound healing, guiding fibroblasts to injury sites in response to biochemical signals. This study demonstrates that Advanced BioMatrix’s xeno-free VitroCol? Collagen I solution enhances fibroblast migration and chemotaxis in response to fetal bovine serum (FBS) gradients. We compared fibroblast movement on VitroCol?-coated and uncoated plates, confirming that VitroCol? provides a stable surface that supports directed migration. Additionally, fibroblasts maintained expected functional behaviors under pharmacological treatments, establishing VitroCol? as a reliable xeno-free ECM coating for in vitro chemotaxis and wound healing models Read the full white paper here: https://lnkd.in/g3n4bZQS #cellculture #collagen #research
