Let’s keep #NationalApprenticeshipWeek going! Connecting CTE learners to apprenticeship programs requires ongoing collaboration, industry responsiveness, and flexibility. Here’s what we know: ? Programs should be aligned with workforce demand. Account for opportunities within in-demand fields that are local or regionally accessible. ? Buy-in must come from all sides. Leaner communities of teachers, employers, parents, and students need to connect to the value of programs. ? Employers need to drive the process. Most programs come from employers seeking to bolster their workforce pipeline. ? No one size fits all! Partnerships take time and intention, and program size should be a function of regional demand. Investment in CTE and apprenticeship ecosystems are best supported with data. Not sure where to start? Check out Advance CTE's 2022 publication on Building A Youth Apprenticeship Data Ecosystem, developed in partnership with New America. https://lnkd.in/euhM4skD

Do you know the last time the National Apprenticeship Act was updated? 1937! The National Apprenticeship Act (NAA) authorizes the U.S. Department of Labor to manage the registered apprenticeship programs (RAPs) system. As an effective “earn-and-learn” system, apprenticeship programs need federal investment that can enable evolution to the needs of today’s learners, workforce, and industry. How can this investment grow apprenticeships alongside Career and Technical Education?

Happy #NationalApprenticeshipWeek! Apprenticeships combine classroom instruction with real-world, hands-on workforce training in a career context. They can also connect to Career Technical Education (CTE) as an advanced work-based learning experience. Today, we are joining the Youth and Young Adult Apprenticeship Day celebration for National Apprenticeship Week. Fully counting youth apprenticeship experiences should include awarding postsecondary credit, including dual and concurrent enrollment. But did you know that credit for prior learning is another avenue to count youth apprenticeships fully? Click the link to read ?? or listen ?? to our brief produced with New America about Leveraging Credit for Prior Learning in Youth Apprenticeship Strategies: https://lnkd.in/ef-YepHx

Since participating in Advance CTE’s Opportunity Gap Analysis (OGA) workshop, Louisiana has transformed how it identifies and addresses gaps in access to high-quality Career Technical Education (CTE). The training led to revisions in Perkins V practices, helping align improvement strategies with identified learner needs. For example, if learners face barriers to enrollment or retention, OGA resources help pinpoint causes and justify targeted solutions—such as providing wireless headsets to support success in technical programs. ?? Read the blog to learn about Louisiana’s full journey with OGA, from policy changes to lessons learned, and how it’s improving outcomes for all learners https://lnkd.in/e42Uk3eZ
