Advance Modesto Initiative

One of our community’s top concerns is substance abuse and misuse. In Stanislaus County, substance abuse is linked with community violence, sexually transmitted infections, and teen pregnancies. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, only one person in six ever gets the help they need for substance abuse. Advance Modesto Initiative (AMI) is committed to helping adults who show early danger signs of misuse and are at risk of homelessness, job loss, incarceration, and family breakup. Because it’s more common for substance abuse disorders to be addressed through treatment and maintenance activities, AMI focuses instead on preventing the irresponsible use and misuse of alcohol and illicit drugs, including prescription opioids.
