A recent client had to simultaneously navigate buying a new car with buying a new house AND factor in all of the necessary renovations. Whew! Since most consumers lack knowledge about renovation costs, we thought it would be fun to compare three everyday essentials: cars, kitchens, and coffee. Keep reading to see how each one affects your health and finances. #kitchendesign #kitchenrenovations #kitchencosts #personalfinances https://lnkd.in/gntBqVuB

In honor of #worldmentalhealthday, we encourage you to take stock of the environment you surround yourself in daily. ? I'll never forget my coworker from years ago who invested in a "Happy Light" for his cubical.?We all thought it was a bit funny at the time; little did we know he was onto something.?There is a whole field of study on how your interior environment impacts your mental health; one element of that includes increased exposure to (ideally) natural light.?Where you can't always get outside or to a window, get yourself a happy light!! ? According to BetterHelp, here are other ways psychologists say you can manipulate your interiors to help boost your mood: ? Bring the outdoors in.?You don't have to pull in a whole jungle to accomplish this.?Fresh flowers, a well-placed plant or two and even photographs of nature are proven to put people in a better mood. ? Minimize clutter.?Raise your hand if you've ever felt SO RELIEVED or even physically lighter after a good home purging session??This is because excessive amounts of clutter and disorganization within your home can increase your cortisol levels (aka the stress hormone). ? Re-evaluate your color scheme.?The field of color psychology is really interesting, as different colors are linked to different types of moods.?Feeling blue??You would think seeing the color blue would make you feel sadder but its actually shown to REDUCE depression.? ? None of this, of course, is a substitute for professional counseling so if you're feeling depressed, please reach out to your healthcare provider to get the support that you need.

Fantastic designer event with Sherwin Williams yesterday. I had the opportunity to get a peek into the intricacies of design, psychology, and marketing behind something as seemingly simple as paint. The attention to detail and creativity showcased was truly inspiring. Which one of these inspiration pictures is your favorite?

"So….you just tell people what to buy...and you get paid for it!?"? ? This was the comment from a last-mile delivery company I was considering using for our Full-Service design projects and I have to say, it made me laugh.?Sure, helping people decide what to buy is part of what I do as an interior designer but there is more to it than that.? ? If you've ever wondered what interior designers do (or think you already know and want to see if you're right) read on. https://lnkd.in/g-y8nZUn

Grand Foyer Makeover in Park Ridge, IL! The two-story foyer, initially crafted in the '90s with a subtle wall finish of textured iridescent paint and large tapestry, was set for an update. The homeowners desired a new look that would make you say "wow" as you entered the home. We designed custom picture frame molding, providing a classic, elegant aesthetic that enhanced the space without overpowering it. Our contractor's impeccable work made this architectural feature appear as though it was an original part of the home.

The Motley Fool recommends considering investing in artwork to help diversify your portfolio. Since it falls into the high-risk category, they recommend buy what you love, and we wholeheartedly concur.? In honor of #internationalwomensday2024 tomorrow, I want to introduce you to my favorite contemporary artist, Erin Hanson.?Erin pioneered the "open impressionism" movement with her innovative approach to oil paintings.?This technique layers thick brushstrokes onto an underpainting, resulting in a stained-glass appearance that captures the late afternoon light.?The first time I laid eyes on one of her works, I was hooked! ? In addition to being an amazing artist, I've also been impressed with her approach to work and business.?Here are a couple of things you might find inspiring no matter what your line of work is: ? Vision- When others said she couldn't earn a living as an artist, Erin said, "I figured out a way to pave my own road into the art world without asking permission from any gallery, art critic, or entrenched authority."?I love this!!?Naysayers are a dime a dozen but a clear vision of what you want out of life is the first step in making it happen. ? Commitment- Years ago she committed to completing one painting per week to improve her craft.?What a feat!?She has stuck with this goal and not only become one of the most prolific artists of the 21st century, but I'm willing to bet one of the most profitable as well.?Which leads me to my next point. ? Discipline- Not only does this hero of mine churn out beautiful original pieces at a staggering rate, but she also oversees galleries in Oregon, California, and Arizona, hosts live events, blogs, writes, and finds time to coach and mentor other artists.?She has millions of online followers and sells multiple original paintings a month, in addition to untold prints, calendars, and books.?She clearly takes a disciplined approach to running her business and it has paid off. ? Supreme Service- This is still the one purchase in my life that far exceeded all expectations in what was delivered.?Not only did my paintings come carefully wrapped and expertly framed, The Erin Hanson Gallery also surprised me a beautiful coffee table book and complementary calendars featuring her work.?Her sales and customer service teams have consistently been a joy to work with and will proactively reach out without being overwhelming.??? ? What about you??Who is your inspirational woman for #iwd2024 ?
