We're building person-to-person communities that provide validating spaces for Adult Adoptees. Our groups are growing!

关于我们

Embracing Adult Adoptees Before Adoptees Connect began, there were very few, if any, places that adult adoptees could go to find a community; a space where they could go that was only for adoptees. While online groups or general adoption support groups were plentiful, there was no concrete space for adult adoptees. From this noticeable lack, Adoptees Connect was born. At Adoptees Connect we focus on putting adoptee voices first, creating a valuable adoptee-centric space where adoptee voices meet, meaning it is created by and for adoptees. The first connect group was planted in Lexington, KY in January of 2018. The groups stray away from the traditional support group model, placing more emphasis on building strong, healthy relationships with other adoptees. Connect groups are meant to be a place of conversation and validation. No matter what background you come from or what your experience with being adopted has been, all adoptees have a place within Adoptees Connect. In addition, whether adoptees are hiking, having coffee, or going out to eat, there are a wide variety of opportunities to connect outside of the monthly connect group meeting. We aren’t designed to walk our journeys alone. In just one short year, 31 connect groups have been planted in different cities. It is the hope of Adoptees Connect to plant a group every city in every state in the country; this way, anywhere an adoptee will go, there will always be a community to fall back on. Our groups are designed to take online relationships offline, and to get to know the person behind the profile.

  • Celebrating 7 Years of Adoptees Connect, Inc. Seven years ago, Adoptees Connect, Inc. was born from an adoptees broken heart and a very dark place. It came from the pain of feeling unseen, unheard, and disconnected, a pain many of us as adoptees know all too well. It came from separation trauma, complex grief, loss & abandonment. But from that darkness, a vision and mission were born: to create in-person spaces where adoptees could connect, share, and truly see one another beyond the profiles and social media posts. Today, we are celebrating seven incredible years of sparking meaningful conversations, building on-person connections within our diverse adoptee communities, and creating spaces where adoptees feel empowered to share their truths. This milestone would not be possible without you, our amazing supporters, our passionate volunteers/facilitators, and our outstanding board of directors. You have all played a vital role in turning this vision into a movement. Through the years, we have seen the magic that happens when adoptees come together, in person, to share stories, laughter, and even tears. You have helped us transform what began as a dream into a community that feels like home for so many. We have received some questions about how to give to our organization, especially to support our scholarship fund so no adoptee anywhere is turned away from planting a group. If you would like to donate, learn how to start a group, or find where our group locations are, please visit our website for more information: (link in comments) Thank you for being part of this journey, for showing up, for believing in our mission, and for helping turn pain into purpose. Together, we are creating something that goes far beyond connection, we are building understanding, healing, and change. Here is to the next seven years of breaking silence, building community, and getting to know the person behind the profile. Drop a comment below and let us know how Adoptees Connect, Inc. has impacted your life. Let us celebrate together. #adoption #adoptee #adopted #adopteevoices #adopteesconnect #adopteestories #adopteeresources

Changing the Future of Work for Adoptees & Fosters | Keynote Speaker | Founder | Fundraiser | Inclusion & Belonging Thought Leader

How are you spending your money today on Black Friday? ?? Buying power is power. ?? Where you put your money, it gives power. ?? As you think about the business you are supporting today, and Giving Tuesday, it's important to support the creators doing the on-the-ground work to help Adoptees and Fosters. There are amazing nonprofits and social impact companies that serve our communities, and that are led by people who have lived experience. These creators and organizations are critical in creating meaningful, positive change, that saves lives, improves the quality of life, and provides the resources that would not exist without these folx. #givingtuesday is all about giving back. This is traditionally a day for giving back to 501c3 nonprofits. There are also so many mission-driven creators and organizations who don't get tax breaks, who are paying 30% + in small business taxes but doing mission-driven work like nonprofits are doing. I urge you to continue giving to nonprofits that you believe in and that you know are doing critical work. We need nonprofits. But we also need these creators and these social impact companies who are serving our community. They are able to do work that nonprofits are not able to do because nonprofits, and their leaders, are ultimately are limited by donor expectations, board expectations, and restricted funding. We all need each other - we are all a part of the change, and we all need our community's support. Our community talks a lot about the scarcity mindset that is so prevalent because it feels there is not enough resources, especially financially, to do the work needed. But there is an abundance of resources - we need to work together to grab it, and continue to elevate each other. Together we are stronger. Let's support each other, and in turn, helping funders and people see us, to know we exist and we are SO important to the larger equity, inclusion, and justice ecosystem. Here are a few nonprofits, creators, and social impact companies who serve our communities. Consider supporting them. • On behalf of Adoptees Connect Inc., our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastating impact of the fires sweeping across California. The destruction, loss, and uncertainty weigh on all of us, and we want to express our deepest sympathy and solidarity with those affected. As adoptees, many of us understand the pain of loss, displacement, and feeling untethered. Our thoughts are with you as you navigate these difficult times, and we stand united in offering support, understanding, and strength. Please take care of yourselves and each other, and know that our community holds you close during this challenging time. ??

  • Home For The Holidays? Why Adoptees Need Grace, Space, and Understanding During the Hardest Season. The holiday season is often depicted as a time of joy, connection, and celebration—a chance to gather with family and revel in cherished traditions. But for many adoptees, this time of year is profoundly complex, stirring up deep wounds that often remain unseen by those around us, but they can often feel them in us. What may seem like simple family gatherings to others can be harrowing for adoptees, bringing to the surface feelings of loss, rejection, and a longing for connection that runs painfully deep. • This Holiday Season, Let’s Connect! Book Your Holiday Heart-to-Heart Chat with Pamela A. Karanova: The holiday season is just around the corner, and it can bring up unique emotional challenges for adoptees. For many, it’s a season filled with complex feelings around family, origins, and the weight of expectations. As we observe National Adoptee Awareness Month in November, I’ve opened my schedule seven days a week to offer one-on-one Table Talk sessions—a space where adoptees and those who love them can connect deeply, find validation, and explore ways to feel empowered in their journey. Opening my Table Talk sessions to offer even more availability is my way of participating in National Adoptee Awareness Month (NAAM) and supporting fellow adoptees and those in the adoption constellation around the holidays, a time that can be especially tough for our community. NAAM holds deep meaning for me; it’s a time to raise awareness, honor our shared experiences, and create safe spaces for adoptees to feel seen and heard. For over a decade and a half, I’ve dedicated myself to being a lifeline for adoptees, providing support year-round, but the challenges often grow around the holiday season. • Light a Candle on Adoptee Remembrance Day – October 30th. Join us in a global candle lighting to honor and remember adoptees impacted by separation trauma, adoption trauma, and those we've lost to suicide, addiction, abuse, neglect, deportation, TTI, murder and mental health crisis. We also want to acknowledge that before any adoption, adoptees first had to lose everything. When we light our candles together, from every corner of the world, it becomes a powerful symbol of unity, support, and remembrance. This act isn’t just for adoptees—anyone can join in to show solidarity. Let’s create a collective light that reaches far and wide, reminding everyone that all adoptee experiences, voices and stories matter. Together, we’re making a difference. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please take immediate steps to ensure your safety. Contact a licensed mental health professional or text #988 for immediate assistance. Don’t forget to share your candle photos and use our hashtags: #AdopteeRemembranceDay #ARD2024 #adopteesweremember
