Today, we'd like to highlight VEGA Americas, Inc.! ?? VEGA joined Adopt A Class in 2016, and during their time involved, they have impacted 225+ students! Through their monthly visits and annual field trip to VEGA's headquarters in Blue Ash, they have introduced students to careers in manufacturing, engineering, and sales, along with various engaging STEM activities. Most recently, VEGA visited their 3rd-grade class at College Hill Academy for a lesson on the sensors they are currently developing! Students had the opportunity to explore the different functions of the sensors and experiment with them hands-on. Mentors explained the goals they hope the sensors will achieve and discussed how they function. As always, the students were thrilled to spend time with their VEGA mentors! Today's Mentor Team Spotlight is Johnson & Johnson! Johnson & Johnson (formerly Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc.) joined Adopt A Class in 2019. They currently mentor six total classrooms at Glendale Elementary School, Lincoln Heights Elementary School (Princeton City School District), and Silverton Elementary School (Cincinnati Public Schools). In their time involved, they have impacted 600+ fourth and fifth graders-- showing them many careers in healthcare, engineering, sales, and more! Most recently, our Johnson & Johnson teams visited their classrooms for an engaging STEM lesson on the development of different types of sutures made by J&J. Students had the opportunity to feel various types of sutures and learn how they are used to help people heal—even saving lives. Mentors also demonstrated how the medical equipment they design aids in suturing by using a stuffed bear! We love spending time with tomorrow’s innovators! Recently, we hosted the 8th graders from Withrow University High School for an Adopt A Class field trip. It was a super-fun and enlightening day as students explored how products come to life, rotating through hands-on stations in industrial design (ID), engineering, machining, and development. I have always enjoyed Marketing and Advertising, but having the opportunity to share my passion with the next generation is incredibly inspiring for me. Today's Mentor Team Spotlight is Primerica Cincinnati! Primerica joined Adopt A Class this school year at Mt. Airy School, where they mentor a 3rd-grade classroom. Last month, mentors led a College and Career Readiness activity, continuing to highlight the importance of financial literacy. Utilizing the "student bank" activity from our educational resources page, Primerica mentors and the 3rd graders created their own banks to keep in the classroom. Throughout the remainder of the year, students will earn "money" in the form of tickets, which they can save or spend in the team's "store" during each visit. On Friday, we visited Linden Elementary in Hamilton to connect Adopt A Class with American Heart Association (AHA) for CPR training. ? We taught students lifesaving CPR skills and reinforced the importance of quick action in emergencies. Their enthusiasm was incredible! ? Shout out to Rachel McCarthy for assisting with the training and guiding us through the steps to saving lives. Excited for more opportunities to give back and strengthen partnerships in our community!
