Following the GCC Out of Home Summit, I wanted to delve deeper into the expectations around audience measurement systems. As data and technology continue to shape our industry thinking; understanding the key features that are valued most will help guide the future of measurement standards. I selected the top five performing elements from the summit survey to explore in more detail: 1. Audience Reach: How do you define effective reach in today’s fragmented media landscape? What level of granularity is needed when breaking down demographics, behaviours, and engagement patterns? 2. CPM (Cost Per Thousand Impressions): As more campaigns become data-driven, what role does CPM play in OOH measurement? Are there new benchmarks or contextual factors that should be considered when calculating value? 3. Viewable Impressions: How do we best capture and validate impressions in environments where visibility varies? What standards should the industry adopt to ensure consistency and comparability with other media? 4. Visibility: Beyond impressions, visibility measures how well an ad is seen and processed. What innovations in eye-tracking, movement data, or environmental factors can enhance this metric? 5. Creative Impact: OOH is a high-impact, creative-first medium. How can we better quantify creative effectiveness and its influence on brand perception and consumer behaviour? These five elements represent the foundation of robust, future-ready audience measurement.
