In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth and #HeartHealthMonth, our members with #aphasia want to share some information. Remember, #stroke doesn’t just happen to seniors. We hope this helps!

Supporting a loved one with aphasia means finding new ways to communicate. ??? Here are some simple strategies to help: 1?? Use yes/no questions to simplify conversations. 2?? Be patient and give extra time for responses. 3?? Incorporate gestures, pictures, or writing to aid in communication. 4?? Speak to the person with aphasia in an adult tone—there’s no need to praise after successful conversations. Speak to them as you would any adult. Remember, patience and understanding go a long way in making communication a two-way street. ?? #AphasiaTips #CaregiverSupport #AphasiaCommunication
