We’re excited to celebrate the #PowerofRural on National Rural Health Day which is today! Join AHI, Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization, the North Country Telehealth Partnership, and the ST. LAWRENCE HEALTH INITIATIVE, INC. in recognizing the spirit of #rural America and the efforts of healthcare providers and stakeholders addressing unique healthcare challenges. Congratulations to our regional Rural Health Champions! Congratulations to the 2024 Rural Health Champion of the Year, Tyler Whitney! Tyler was presented this award at our annual Leadership Summit last month. An excerpt from Tyler’s nomination reads: “Tyler is an exemplary leader in the field of human services, currently serving as the Executive Director of Southern Adirondack Independent Living. Under his leadership, this agency has made an impact across seventeen counties in New York State, working towards its mission of enabling individuals to live more independently." Congratulations Tyler and thank you for all that you do for our region! Lastly, congratulations to the 2024 Telehealth Innovator of the Year, Stephanie Parks! An excerpt from Stephanie’s nomination reads: “Since 2021, Stephanie Parks has been instrumental in launching a remote patient monitoring program aimed at reducing avoidable readmissions among patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) discharged from Samaritan Medical Center. The technology used in this program is both innovative and effective. It does not only enable continuous monitoring but also allows for real-time data access by healthcare providers. Stephanie Parks' dedication, innovation, and leadership make her an ideal candidate for the Telehealth Innovator Award." Congratulations Stephanie and thank you for all your work in improving telehealth services in the region! These awards are spotlighted on Rural Health Day to draw attention to the remarkable contributions of those individuals. We salute our partners and those recognized for all they do to make the North Country a healthier place to live.

???? Halloween at Adirondack Health Institute was a spooktacular success! We had a fantastic time yesterday with our in-office trick or treating event, where teams transformed spaces into themed rooms and tables. Over 20 kids and some furry friends joined in the fun! We also hosted a virtual meeting today where staff showcased their creative costumes, adding a touch of festive spirit from home. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this Halloween memorable!

?? AHI in the Community! ?? AHI employees are committed to our community not only in the course of their jobs, but also outside of the office as well! AHI employee Jennifer Muthig, and her son, Kyle Casey, recently volunteered to work with the Glens Falls Lions Club booth at the Adirondack Balloon Festival selling local cider donuts and hot/cold beverages. At yesterday's monthly Lion's Club meeting, Kyle was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for his outstanding generosity and dedication to community service. This event was attended by community leaders including the Rotary, United Way, and the Family Services Association. Pictured first is the Family Services Association Executive Director, Kim Sopczyk. All funds raised at the Adirondack Balloon Festival supports our community partners for back to school supplies, shoes, winter coats, and eyeglasses.

We're proud to support our team's well-being, and for Targeted Case Manager Nathen Chevrier, a recent Restwork Retreat was a true game-changer. ??? Sponsored by the North Country Care Coordination Workforce Collaboration and Adirondack Health Institute's HRSA Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network grant, the retreat offered Nathen a chance to recharge, connect with peers and learn stress management tools that he’s already using in his role. Through training sessions focused on stress management and the “and yet” mindset, Nathen and his peers learned how to turn challenges into positives—something Nathen's already using at work. "It’s helped me stay calm in tough situations and not feel rushed," he explained. A key takeaway for Nathen came from a group activity that taught him the importance of saving some energy for himself. “Now, if I don’t have the energy for something, I vocalize it. It’s helped me avoid burnout. You can’t help others if you don’t take care of yourself.” Thanks for sharing your journey, Nathen! We're grateful to support opportunities that foster growth and well-being. ?? #CitizenAdvocates #RestworkRetreat #MentalHealth #ProfessionalGrowth #Adirondacks
