The ADHD Alliance provide national support for ADHD within the emergency services and for the criminal justice system.

关于我们

Set up in February 2022, the ADHD Alliance was formed to support colleagues with ADHD and drive the criminal justice system to better understand neurodiversity. Since our launch, we have grown rapidly expanding our membership across the UK. We recognised there was a desperate need for the information and support we provide. We now train staff and host awareness events to help our colleagues across the emergency services and those that they manage. We also understand that if we can help our colleagues understand neurodiversity, we will reduce offending fuelled by untreated ADHD. The criminal justice system and the way we see neurodiversity have to change to allow us to change the lives of those we serve.

Today Saturday 22nd February marks 3 years since my friend and colleague Alex Ware and I created the ADHD Alliance What started as a space for those with ADHD to come and share lived experiences has turned into a national group containing some 1721 members, representing every police service and law enforcement agency in the UK. I often joke, that ACCIDENTALLY setting up a national ADHD support group has to be one of the most ADHD things ever. Very early on in the life of ADHD Alliance we were lucky to recruit the amazing Carl Mumford who continues to help our group go from strength to strength. It's worth pointing out, that the Alliance has never recieved a single penny of support. Something which makes me all the prouder of our achievements. So join us, in having a slice of virtual birthday cake and giving thanks to all the support, guidance, love, respect and belonging that the ADHD Alliance has brought in these 3 short years. The work continues to make policing and the wider criminal justice system truly neuroinclusive. But it's nice to think of how far we've come. #birthday #adhd #adhdalliance #anniversary #neuroinclusive

This is a really important survey for the autistic community ??

Please complete this important survey. ? The treatment you receive within mental health services can have a major impact on your life and can greatly affect your mental wellbeing. ?? The autistic experience of mental health services is a particularly sensitive, but important, topic that deserves greater attention and action, to create a more inclusive and supportive environment. If you are aged 18 or over, have a diagnosis or are self-diagnosed as autistic and you have also accessed public mental health services in the UK within the last 15 years, then you are invited to take part in a study being conducted by York St John University. The purpose of the study is to centre autistic voices and provide a comprehensive analysis into the impact of treatment within these services. To bring forth meaningful ways in which changes of treatment of neurodivergent patients can be implemented whilst being mindful of the current limitations of public healthcare. If you would like to take part in this study, please follow the below link. Survey is in the comments ??

Clare Preston-Davies, MSc (Dist) and I want to let you in on a little secret.... However first context. We have been talking for months about doing something in relation to neurodiversity and the menopause. Clare did a magnificent webinar for the ADHD Alliance for adhd awareness month. (recorded for police colleagues fyi) This got us thinking about a general online support group. We met and planned a date......And then folks.... ADHD HAPPENED!?!? And we COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT IT. That is until last Wednesday, where in a frankly uncharacteristic attempt at forward planning I looked at my schedule for this week and saw the placeholder. So in essence my friends. Clare and I rushed out an invite at the end of last week. Then we met this morning (day of the group) to discuss how to run it and between 10-12 earlier today successfully run our very first ND and the menopause support group. AND 157 PEOPLE WERE PRESENT. AND IT WAS UTTERLY MAGNIFICENT. Such amazing feedback. Clare as always spoke passionately and honestly about her experiences. She was and is truly inspiring. Needless to say. It went so well......we will be doing it again. We'll have to consider something outside the wider policing world. So watch this space!!!! I think this also demonstrates the many joys of ADHD. No one can wing it like us! #neurodiversity #menopause #adhd

Tuesday 14th January - Menopause and Neurodiversity Support Group [Police only] - Please check your inboxes. We have sent an email today about a menopause and neurodiversity support group. This contains a link for registration, you can also sign up to our forum and we have posted a link there. Since the ADHD Alliance was created in February 2022, one of the most common enquiries and requests for help and information has come from women experiencing the effects of ADHD (and/or other neurodivergent conditions) and the menopause. This group provides a safe space to bring people together to share their experiences, offer peer support, and provide practical advice. The meeting will be facilitated by DC Daley Jones, Co-Chair of the ADHD Alliance, and Inspector Clare Preston-Davies, MSc (Dist) of Derbyshire Constabulary, who is also the head of Derbyshire’s ND network. This group isn’t just for people currently experiencing ADHD and menopause. It’s for women, partners of women, colleagues, line managers, and friends of women who may go through this in the future. Please join us to raise awareness and support our colleagues and loved ones.

I am immensely proud to be putting the finishing touches to our very first "neurodiversity and the menopause support group" for police officers and police staff. Since the ADHD Alliance was created in Feb 2022 one of the common enquiries and requests for help and info has come from women who are experiencing the twin affects of ADHD (and or other neurodivergent conditions) and the menopause. I have been doing everything in my power to support these women for the last year. I am eternally grateful to the incredible Clare Preston-Davies, MSc (Dist) for talking about this subject during a webinar in October as part of our ADHD Awareness month talks. I am delighted to say she will be joining us again for the first (hopefully of many) support group meetings. I can't pretend to know a great deal about this subject. But what I can do is try to create a safe space for people to talk, and support eachother. Outside policing, would a support group for this topic be of interest? #adhd #menopause #supportgroup

We've just launched the new ADHD Alliance forum. In two days, it's already had over 100 officers and staff sign up so they can find help and talk about ADHD in a safe place. I've been putting our content and guides on the forum so that people can access it easily on their laptop, phone or tablet. Looking forward to seeing it grow and users across the country finding support from it. We've launched it to the police for now so we can test it as it grows. You can sign up using your police email, send me a message, and I'll share the link with you. ??
