Holly Mandel, our new Machine Learning Engineer, comes from Quant Finance, where she built machine learning algorithms for high-frequency trading. She has a Ph.D. in mathematics from UC Berkeley. Spencer Rhodes, our new Software Engineer II, comes from Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he worked on Resource Explorer, contributing to its initial launch in 2022 and later participating in feature launches. He was also a founding engineer at Umax, a project that achieved over 8 million iOS downloads and multimillion-dollar ARR. That’s a wrap! We had a blast at #StaffingWorld - thanks American Staffing Association! Some conference takeaways: ?? Staffing firms are sitting on large rolodexes of talent, but these databases are so hard to search that Recruiters still go to paid sources like Indeed / ZipRecruiter when an order comes in. This is an obvious opportunity to improve bottom-line with predictive matching. ?? Staffing is a huge industry, but the staffing community is collaborative and relationship-driven, making it feel small. We hugely valued the community we were able to build, especially at Thrive and the Women of Color in Staffing breakfast. ?? Agencies are hungry for ways to use AI, but are still trying to nail down the use cases that free up time and allow them to focus on the human elements of their work. ??Every macro-economic challenge in the news has a staffing problem behind it! For example, light industrial jobs power the supply chain; a shortage of agricultural workers mean food prices go up. The work this industry does is so important! ?? Staffing Passion! Even in the face of a uniquely challenging period for the industry, the leaders we met?had fire for their firms and solutions! They were eager to share their ideas, challenges, and everything in between. It was great getting to talk to and hear from industry (and life) experts such as: Michelle D.
