Addis Energy announced today that they were selected by U.S. Air Force and the Department of Defense’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) to explore how to tap into America’s abundant?energy supply to increase our national security. Having achieved “Awardable” status, Addis Energy can now explore developing?new subsurface energy resources?here at home and abroad to supply U.S. military bases with reliable and cost-effective electricity, even during a grid outage. Addis Energy was selected through the CDAO’s innovative solicitation process known as the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace, which is designed to accelerate the procurement and adoption of mission critical technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and resilient energy technologies. “The U.S. Air Force leveraged the Tradewinds solicitation process to quickly collaborate with innovative American companies to build resilient, next-generation geothermal?[and other associated]?technologies at our bases, using private capital instead of taxpayer dollars,” said Mr. Kirk Phillips, Director, Air Force Office of Energy Assurance.” "This new Awardable status opens the door to expedited pilot testing opportunities," said Charlie Mitchell, P.E., Co-Founder & COO of Addis Energy. “We are excited to play a role in helping to unleash American energy dominance with secure, plentiful energy.” Addis Energy's video, "DAF Geothermal: Addis Energy - Stimulated Geologic Hydrogen", accessible only by government customers on the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace, presents an actual use case in which the company highlights the potential impact of stimulated geologic hydrogen and ammonia. Addis Energy was recognized among a competitive field of applicants to the Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace whose solutions demonstrated innovation, scalability, and potential impact on DoD missions. Government customers interested in viewing the video solution can create a Tradewinds Solutions Marketplace account at tradewindAI.com.

Addis Energy is scaling new ammonia production pathway that revolutionizes the century-old chemical production process. By targeting iron-rich resources in the subsurface, Addis is forging a new pathway for chemical synthesis: injecting engineered fluids that harness the chemical & thermal potential of the earth to produce clean ammonia. This transforms ammonia synthesis into a net energy positive process without any CO2 emissions and enables producing ammonia cheaper than traditional methods.

At the turn of the 20th century, humanity rapidly consumed the legacy stores of natural fertilizer and faced an existential crisis of mass starvation due to an inability to feed its growing population. The invention of the Haber-Bosch process eliminated this problem, by creating a high temperature, high pressure chemical processing unit for ammonia synthesis. Today, Addis Energy is announcing a new ammonia production pathway that revolutionizes this century-old process. By targeting iron-rich resources in the subsurface, Addis is forging a new pathway for chemical synthesis: injecting engineered fluids that harness the chemical and thermal potential of the earth to produce clean ammonia. This transforms ammonia synthesis into a net energy positive process without any CO2 emissions, enabling ammonia production at 75% of the cost of Haber-Bosch. This technology, which was invented by Iwnetim (Tim) Abate, PhD at MIT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was published today by Joule and featured by MIT News. Addis was recently awarded $4.5M from ARPA-E’s Vision OPEN program to bring forward abundant primary energy. In addition to cutting-edge research, the founding team combines decades of tough tech experience from Yet-Ming Chiang with oil and gas experience from Michael Alexander and Charlie Mitchell, P.E.. Addis Energy’s Iwnetim Abate and Michael Alexander recently discussed the Joule publication and company formation with Casey Crownhart for an MIT Technology Review exclusive. Addis Energy is backed by world-class investors and partners at Engine Ventures, Pillar VC, Voyager Ventures, and Blindspot Ventures.
