Your Bridge Between Financial Markets & Social Justice

关于我们

Adasina Social Capital (“Adasina”) is an investment and financial activism firm that serves as a critical bridge between financial markets and social justice movements for the benefit of people and our planet. Adasina uses four interlocking levers to enact large-scale, systemic change: People, Investments, Campaigns, and Education. We believe that transformed systems are best created by people outside of traditional power structures who carry new perspectives. By building a diverse team that reflects the communities for which we seek justice, we created a new kind of investing based on the needs of those most impacted by our existing inequitable systems. In partnership with social justice organizations within these communities, we define the criteria that guide our investments. We use this community-sourced wisdom to educate and mobilize other investors with campaigns that amplify the needs, perspectives, and voices of impacted communities throughout the financial system. We believe that community-sourced impact data should set the standards for how companies and governments participate in racial, gender, economic, and climate justice. With Adasina, investors can seek both financial and social returns that are accountable to the well-being of the people and planet they impact. Adasina Social Capital is the sister company of Robasciotti & Philipson, a registered investment advisory firm with over 15 years of experience creating social justice portfolios for clients. We are majority-owned and operated by women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Both companies are headquartered in San Francisco and maintain client relationships throughout the United States. Important Disclosure: https://buff.ly/2FRCVy2 We also comply with SEC regulations and therefore do not accept recommendations or endorsements on any of our social media channels.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is under attack—however, now is not the time to retreat. A recent FA Magazine article highlights that financial services remain overwhelmingly white and male, despite clear evidence that #diverseleadership drives better business outcomes. At Adasina Social Capital, we don’t just talk about #DEI—we live it. Our diverse team reflects the communities we serve because representation isn’t optional; it’s essential for real impact. I shared in the article: “One of the biggest barriers to representation is leadership prioritizing comfort over performance. Research proves diverse teams outperform—but finance remains stuck in the past.” The industry must do better. True commitment means action—mentorship, recruitment, and leadership that actually shifts power. The time for performative DEI is over. “The uncertainty created by disruptive and discriminatory anti-immigrant policies will have broad financial and legal implications across the private sector.” Jessica Akamine here, Adasina Social Capital’s Divisional Director posting on Rachel’s behalf while she’s away on sabbatical to amplify this urgent and important Investor Statement from our partners at Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR). The ICCR reports that “mass deportations by the new administration, if executed, could result in a nearly 5% reduction in the labor force that would cripple future labor force growth, disrupt business operations, and significantly increase labor costs for all employers, now and for years to come.” Amid the recent increase in ICE raids, detentions, and deportations, Adasina was proud to join nearly 100 other institutional investors to demand Congress act now to reform our immigration system and reject piecemeal, discriminatory anti-immigrant policies. ??Read and amplify the statement here, and join us in demanding action by Congress, companies, and investors. ___________________ Rachel is on sabbatical through April 1st, 2025. While she's away, Adasina team members will occasionally be posting on her account with timely updates, resources, and news.

????♀? Investment myth: Returns are either ‘market’ or ‘concessionary.’ Investors must pick between maximizing financial gains and sacrificing them in favor of social justice impact. ? What’s really happening: When investors chase short-term, market returns they too are often unknowingly signing up for concessions in the form of unpriced social and environmental externalities which put the very future they’re investing to create in peril. Adasina’s approach offers investors what we call “aligned returns” ? returns that work toward, not against, a safe, healthy, and prosperous future. all in on durable, transformative, reparative systems change | Forbes 50 > 50; 2020 Conscious Company World Changing Woman

Dear everyone, and I mean *all y'all*: I get it. I do. The moment we are living in is terrifying. The effects of climate change and pollution are increasingly catastrophic. Murder and for-profit incarceration and surveillance and more are being conducted with impunity by governments claiming to act in our names. Extremism is the new black. It's so very seductive to hunker down, go small, try to avoid being a target. But that's only chasing a cruel illusion of safety. Here is the hard good news. This is not the first terrifying moment in history. And while there is no escape, you aren't powerless. In a capitalist system, every way you use your money has influence, and the default is the status quo. That means that we are all default complicit unless we choose otherwise. So choose to use your power for good. Does your bank finance for-profit prisons? Move your checking, savings, mortgage, and/or other accounts to a CDFI, credit union, or cooperative —?preferably a Minority Deposit Institution. Do the websites and stores where you shop lobby against worker and human rights protections? Do the brands you buy lobby or move their operations to evade environmental laws? Do they contrive to escape paying taxes? Change your shopping habits. Does your investment portfolio — that includes your 401k or IRA, how ever modest — include companies that generate returns by profiting from human and/or environmental exploitation? Move your assets to managers, plans, products, and equities that don't. Maybe it feels meaningless or insignificant to act on your own. But we are living in this moment of history *together*. And history teaches that collective action changes systems. We have much better alternatives to complicity. Instead of surrender, we can choose solidarity and a healthier, safer, more just, more resilient, and more prosperous future for all. As Dr. Angelou famously advised, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Yes, it takes effort. And there will be those who tell you it's too much hassle, or too risky, or your can't afford it, or you need the money that the status quo throws off, or some other reason to stay with the status quo. But here's the thing: the risks and costs posed by the status quo are on increasingly florid and inescapable display. The status quo is insanely risky, volatile, and expensive. Personally, I can't excuse myself for complicity, and I can't afford the financial, economic, social, environmental, or personal toll the status quo extorts. Can you?

  • The biggest threats facing the world over the next 10 years, according to the World Economic Forum, revolve around global inequality and its consequences on people and the planet. In her latest article, Adasina’s Co-CEO Julianne Zimmerman explains the critical role that investors play in mitigating those threats and actively investing to create a more equitable future: “As investors, we have the right and the power — and some of us hold the fiduciary responsibility — to base our investment decisions on material information. What could be more material than a global assessment of the evolving risk landscape? We don’t have to follow along blindly, or accept a worsening world: we have the prerogative to invest to reduce inequality and other injustices.” Read the full article here:
