In the aftermath of last week’s U.S. presidential election, we want to acknowledge that many of us are feeling real pain, confusion, and fear – including fresh wounds from damaged relationships in just about every family and every community. As a firm whose approach is grounded in intersectionality, we cannot ignore the role that racial, gender, economic, and climate injustice played in the results. Normally our function is to mobilize our community to action. After all, our work together just got orders of magnitude more critical, and the urgency of our work together is acute. At the same time, although it may seem paradoxical, it is also true that we need not jump to action this very instant. Over the months and years ahead, we anticipate many challenges will demand our urgent and disciplined attention. Those moments will require us to be rested and ready to act in community, to build a more just, healthy, safe, and prosperous future together. For those of you ready to act right now to advance social justice, we offer some ideas below. You can trust that we will share more calls to action in the coming days and weeks. In this moment, we are making the revolutionary choice to rest, restore our reserves, and consciously resist getting caught up in post-election turbulence. We encourage you to join us in caring for yourself and our beloved community: be still with all of your feelings, reactions, and impulses. Make space to love yourself and to do everything you can to protect the most vulnerable people around you. Breathe, hydrate, play, meditate or pray, exercise – do whatever gives you rest, remembering that rest is a revolutionary commitment. With love, The Adasina Team??? - ?? Your Bridge Between Financial Markets & Social Justice
关于我们
Adasina Social Capital (“Adasina”) is an investment and financial activism firm that serves as a critical bridge between financial markets and social justice movements for the benefit of people and our planet. Adasina uses four interlocking levers to enact large-scale, systemic change: People, Investments, Campaigns, and Education. We believe that transformed systems are best created by people outside of traditional power structures who carry new perspectives. By building a diverse team that reflects the communities for which we seek justice, we created a new kind of investing based on the needs of those most impacted by our existing inequitable systems. In partnership with social justice organizations within these communities, we define the criteria that guide our investments. We use this community-sourced wisdom to educate and mobilize other investors with campaigns that amplify the needs, perspectives, and voices of impacted communities throughout the financial system. We believe that community-sourced impact data should set the standards for how companies and governments participate in racial, gender, economic, and climate justice. With Adasina, investors can seek both financial and social returns that are accountable to the well-being of the people and planet they impact. Adasina Social Capital is the sister company of Robasciotti & Philipson, a registered investment advisory firm with over 15 years of experience creating social justice portfolios for clients. We are majority-owned and operated by women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Both companies are headquartered in San Francisco and maintain client relationships throughout the United States. Important Disclosure: https://buff.ly/2FRCVy2 We also comply with SEC regulations and therefore do not accept recommendations or endorsements on any of our social media channels.

?? Adasina Social Capital and Rhia Ventures are thrilled to share an important update regarding shared efforts to leverage capital markets and advance social justice. Rhia Ventures is assuming ownership of The Due Diligence 2.0 Commitment (DD2.0), originally launched and managed by Adasina.?We are deeply grateful to Rachel J. Robasciotti and the Adasina team for this opportunity. DD2.0 was created to catalyze movement of capital to BIPOC managers. It challenges asset owners and financial advisors to leverage their position as capital movers to address systemic racial inequities by allocating more capital to BIPOC managers, communities, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders. Over the coming months, Rhia will lead an evaluation and redesign process to continue moving the work forward. Adasina will remain actively engaged in this process. ?? Adasina's Founder & Co-CEO Rachel J. Robasciotti shares her personal reflections in the aftermath of this election:
Beloved community, In the aftermath of this election, I know many of us have been processing and?grieving what might have been under different leadership –?leadership that could have moved us closer to the just, equitable world we all strive to build. I want you to know I am right there with you. There are too many factors that contributed to the election outcome to name them all here; but one I believe our community might find the hardest to comprehend is the immense power of poverty. I’ve always told you the truth with love in my heart. I want to do that now, by sharing my personal perspective on the election results influenced by my experience growing up as a poor person in the United States.

We want to take a moment to acknowledge the array of emotions many of us are experiencing in light of this week's election news. Understandably, such events can stir up intense feelings and provoke deep reflection. We want you to know that we are here, and we are feeling it too. As we process the developments internally, we promise to return soon with additional insights and thoughts. Until then, take care of yourselves and one another. ??

An inspiring reminder from our Co-CEO Julianne Zimmerman:
all in on durable, transformative, reparative systems change | Forbes 50 > 50; 2020 Conscious Company World Changing Woman
In the thick of the storm of disinformation, hate, and violence, a particularly apposite excerpt from the Adasina Social Capital charter: "We recognize that sustainable progress on justice cannot be achieved through divisiveness or dehumanization. We believe as Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did, 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.' Ours is a community built on principles of justice, equity, compassion, and fierce love, where everyone in the community is able to thrive and contribute. Therefore we lead with love and with attunement to collective and emotional intelligence; we welcome redemption and reconciliation because we assume the change we seek is always possible; and we work together to create a world that is safe, peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable for all humanity and the planet." The only justice is justice for all; the only safety is safety for all; the only prosperity is prosperity for all; the only liberation is liberation for all. By necessity, that means solving for systemic injustice, starting with the communities who are most severely impacted by the status quo. We choose to cultivate beloved community and invest for a future in which all living things are able to thrive. It takes courage, but the better angels are always the best choice. Please learn more about what we do and how we do it —?and better yet, how we can work together for a just, healthy, and sustainable future for all — at adasina.com .

Friends, Today I have the immense pleasure of sharing Adasina’s shift to a collaborative leadership model – and within that, welcoming my colleague Julianne Zimmerman to the position of Co-CEO. ?? More details below on why Adasina is adopting a Co-CEO model, but first, let me share more about Julianne. Truthfully, I can’t imagine a better person for the role than Julianne. She is experienced, with 30+ years of esteemed leadership across impact investing and social entrepreneurship. She has an incredibly strategic mind, a knack for aligning operational details with the big picture, and above all, a caring heart. She is a professional whom I both deeply admire and, crucially, like. This is an exciting milestone for all of us at Adasina, and I am confident that Julianne’s leadership and dedication to social justice will enrich our community and position our firm for even greater racial, gender, economic, and climate impact in the future. Please join me in welcoming her to the role.??? As promised, here’s a bit more detail on the “why.” The decision to share Adasina’s executive leadership responsibilities between Julianne and myself is rooted in sustainability. The role of CEO is an expansive one. Leading effectively is not about being superhuman. In fact, it’s the opposite. Effective leadership is about bringing together and supporting a team of people who advance an organization's goals. A collaborative leadership approach creates space for more people to lead while fostering sustainability for Adasina, and preventing burnout for individuals. When Maya Philipson and I founded Adasina, we created a template for sharing space as partners. The compassionate model of leadership we created will no doubt be of service to Julianne and I as we embark on Adasina’s next chapter together. If you’re curious, I invite you to read more about Adasina’s next phase of growth. I’ll add a link to the comments.

Julianne’s 30+ years of influential leadership across impact investing and social entrepreneurship will strengthen Adasina’s leadership team’s capacity, positioning us for substantial (and sustainable) growth. Her background complements that of our Founder & Co-CEO Rachel J. Robasciotti’s 20+ years leading Adasina and the #SocialJusticeInvesting practices that led to its creation. Our shift to a Co-CEO model is one facet of Adasina’s strategic preparations for our next phase of growth, designed to expand our leadership capacity and deepen our ability to make even greater impact. Exciting news from Adasina Social Capital's Social Justice Partner, Inclusive Development International! ?? “AngloGold Ashanti, one of the world's largest gold mining companies, will compensate hundreds of families.” Background: At Adasina’s Q2 Investor Briefing, Inclusive Development International (IDI) –?an organization that helps local communities around the world defend their rights – shared the story of a Guinean community violently impacted by the expansion of a mine project. Artisan miners, merchants, and farmers whose families had lived on the land for 800+ years were forcibly relocated to make way for AngloGold Ashanti’s new mine in Siguiri, Guinea. After six years of mediation, AngloGold agreed to financially compensate the displaced families, and fund community restoration and development. Though the trauma of forced relocation cannot be reversed, I am grateful to see repair being made to the community, and to see a corporation being held accountable for its actions. H/T to David Pred and the IDI team for their dedicated efforts on behalf of this community. Details on the agreement here: https://lnkd.in/gxb37iRF Learn more about Adasina’s partnership with IDI, including information on our Local Communities’ Rights investment screen, here: https://lnkd.in/guTKYpdN
