Had a good time at #IntuitConnect rocking these Adaptive hard hats with old and new friends. The consensus at the conference was that the accounting industry is evolving quickly, driven by two major forces: AI and Private Equity. AI is poised to handle more routine tasks, like bookkeeping, and we believe it can significantly enhance more advanced functions, such as controller work. Meanwhile, private equity is taking a serious interest in the space. With the scalability that AI can bring to services and the relatively low geographic constraints in accounting, I wouldn’t be surprised to see rapid consolidation. As these forces reshape the landscape, firms are feeling the push to adapt and stay competitive. To succeed in today’s environment, we’re seeing a strong trend toward industry specialization. Smaller and emerging firms are zeroing in on single industries, while larger firms are organizing their teams around distinct industry verticals such as healthcare or construction. Becoming a true expert in a vertical enables accounting teams to provide differentiated advice and service with less effort. Our construction accounting partners have embraced this approach, and we’re seeing it translate to higher margins and happier clients.
