Since 2010, the Adaptation Fund has committed about US$ 1.1 billion for climate change adaptation and resilience projects and programmes, including over 165 concrete localized adaptation projects in the most vulnerable communities of developing countries around the world with over 43 million total beneficiaries. It also pioneered Direct Access, empowering countries to access funding and develop projects directly through accredited national implementing entities.

The Community of Practice of #DirectAccess Entities event today at #TheClimateFunds #COP29 pavilion was a great discussion among #AdaptationFund and #TheGCF entities to share experiences of peer-peer collaboration to enhance project implementation of country-driven climate action. Dr. Manish Raj Pandey, of the Adaptation Fund's newest accredited national implementing entity (its 35th), the National Trust for Nature Conservation, of Nepal, was joined on a panel by entity representatives from Africa and Latin America to discuss the importance of building national capacities and country ownership to adapt and build resilience to #climatechange through Direct Access.

The Adaptation Fund is proud to accredit its newest national implementing entity (NIE), the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) in #Nepal, during #COP29. AF Head Mikko Ollikainen welcomes NTNC Head for Climate Change Dr. Manish Raj Pandey to the Fund's #DirectAccess community, which now numbers 34 NIEs across the globe with capabilities to identify, develop and implement adaptation and resilience projects on the ground. Established over 40 years ago, NTNC has successfully undertaken over 300 projects on nature and biodiversity conservation, clean energy and climate change, as well as cultural heritage protection, ecotourism and sustainable development through active engagement of local communities. NTNC also works closely with the Government of Nepal in management of protected areas.
