Johnny Collado's customer, a munition and pyrotechnic defense manufacturer, was experiencing failures on actuators from two grenade production lines that are used to push grenades down the assembly line. Adams worked with the customer to provide a reliable, drop-in solution that would still work with their current Kollmorgen AKM23C motor AND meet the screw lead requirement. We were able to do this by working with PHD, Inc.'s engineers to design a custom actuator with a 4:1 gear ratio to achieve the same travel as the previous actuator. Another benefit for the customer is that the actuator, Kollmorgen motor, reed switches, front/rear mounting flanges were all able to be assembled in-house at Adams prior to installation.
