Steve Perla- President of the Board With over 40 years’ worth of experience in educational public policy, Steve has served as the Executive Director of the Parents Alliance for Catholic Education (PACE) and as Senior Director of the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education. In his role as a private school advocate, Steve has assisted private school leaders with accessing over a billion dollars of federally funded services. Steve’s lobbying efforts have encompassed early education vouchers, expansion of special education services, school health funds, out-of-schooltime grants, a dual enrollment program, school transportation services, school meals and snacks, and reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, commonly referred to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In addition, Steve has served on education committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and has recently co-led for the USCCB a national study on Catholic school students’ participation in Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)-funded services. Steve also has served as the Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Roman Catholic dioceses of Worcester and Fall River (Massachusetts). Before beginning his career in advocacy and Catholic school leadership, Steve served for 12 years as an elected official, including as Mayor of the City of Leominster (MA). Steve holds a bachelor’s degree from Lesley University and a Master’s degree from Boston College.

Tom Olson- Treasurer of the Board Tom has successfully overseen development efforts, augmented donor commitment, and cultivated major gifts for a variety of organizations over the years. Tom’s professional competencies include published writing and public policy research. A Roman Catholic priest, Tom holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross and master’s degrees from St. Louis University and Boston College.

Patrick Malone, Esq.- Secretary of the Board With more than 25 years of legal and business experience, Patrick has held positions with Compaq Computer Corporation, Hewlett-Packard-Company, and Global Medical Supply. In addition, he has served numerous non-profit organizations as a member of their respective boards of directors, and most recently, he has served as an Associate District Court Justice of the Massachusetts Trial Court. Currently serving as an adjunct professor on the faculties of both Fitchburg State University and Assumption University, Patrick holds a juris doctor (JD) from the Massachusetts School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State University.
