Did you know that women have been at the forefront of AI since the very beginning? ????Elaine Rich helped pioneer the first expert system shell. Fei-Fei Li pioneered modern AI. And today, Dr. Joy Buolamwini is a leading figure in the fight for ethical and unbiased artificial intelligence. Women continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. But despite their impact, women make up only 18% of AI researchers. We’re changing that. Ada Developers Academy is preparing women for the future of AI and tech—because the world needs diverse perspectives in innovation. Help us keep this work alive! Our own Malik Brown moderated an incredible session on a critical topic at DIVERSiTECH 2025. Creating pathways to economic nobility through free upskilling for adult learners, takes strong willed individuals and organizations to address this challenge in the region. Joining him in this conversation was Charity R. Tucker (Wells), Tina-Marie Gulley, and Joshua Park. Takeaways: “Including programs like financial wellness leads to increased economy…” “We are reaching people who are not historically being reached…” “Be adaptable to the needs of the market and employers…” This all hits home for me in several ways. 1. Pathways are different for many of us, and it takes a collective effort to uncover the rich and unknown opportunities that exist. 2. Networking is talked about in a variety of ways, but how many of us are maximizing and prioritizing existing/ new professional relationships. 3. Education and life-long learning are CRUCIAL to stay ahead of this current tsunami of uncertainty. A gigantic thank you to?Shannon Morales and team for organizing and hosting an extraordinary event! #DIVERSiTECH2025 #Technology #Innovation #Creativity #techconference Graduate Philadelphia, Per Scholas Philadelphia, Urban League of Greater Philadelphia, Ada Developers Academy

At a time when the intersection of technology and education is shaping the future of work, we at Ada Developers Academy partnered with Math for America (MfA) to empower educators with the tools they need to navigate the evolving landscape of AI-driven learning. Through our Innovating Coding Education: Ada's Approach to Teaching AI Tools workshop, we are reinforcing our shared commitment to equity, access, and excellence in #STEM education. Both Ada and MfA recognize that education is one of the most powerful tools for social change. Our missions align in fostering inclusive learning environments, ensuring that those historically excluded from the tech industry—particularly Black, Latine, Indigenous, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+, and low-income individuals—have the opportunity to thrive. This moment in history demands that we double down on our commitment to making education not just a gateway to opportunity, but also a force for equity. In today’s political climate, where educational access and curricula are being contested, it is critical to uphold spaces that champion knowledge, critical thinking, and innovation. AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) are already shaping industries and workflows, and ensuring that educators—especially those teaching in often underresourced communities—have the resources to teach these advancements effectively is a crucial step toward democratizing access to technology. By equipping educators with AI literacy and pedagogical strategies, we are not just teaching a technical tool; we are preparing the next generation of thinkers, builders, and leaders to critically engage with AI and shape it for the better. This collaboration is not just important, it’s essential in forwarding our mission—because the future of equitable technology starts in the classroom. ?? Join us in this work. Together, we can empower educators, uplift communities, and build a future where education remains a beacon of opportunity and progress.

Last week, our CEO, Tina-Marie Gulley, participated in an incredible panel discussion organized by Barbara Rohm with Amelia Winger-Bearskin, Robin Aisha Pocornie, Dr. Maya Goetz moderated by Manori Ravindran at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) titled "From Unconscious Bias to Algorithmic Bias: How AI Reinforces Sexism and Discrimination in Images and Storytelling." The conversation shed light on how AI can unintentionally amplify biases, sexism, and discrimination, including the steps we can take to build more inclusive technology we build in the present that will impact our future. This conversation is vital and contributes to advancing fairer, more inclusive storytelling through innovative solutions. In Serce's (Sergey Tselovalnikov) most recent blog, he speaks about the impact that LLMs have on software engineers. Highlighting it can influence varies by experience level. Early-career engineers benefit from faster problem-solving but must avoid over-reliance on LLMs. Mid-level engineers use LLMs for speed but still rely on expertise for complex tasks. Staff and engineers leverage LLMs for rapid prototyping, while senior engineers remain cautious due to LLMs' limitations in handling deeply complex or niche issues. Do you think this aligns with your workplace experience? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
