Through our Innovating Coding Education: Ada's Approach to Teaching AI Tools workshop, we are reinforcing our shared commitment to equity, access, and excellence in #STEM education. Both Ada and MfA recognize that education is one of the most powerful tools for social change. Our missions align in fostering inclusive learning environments, ensuring that those historically excluded from the tech industry—particularly Black, Latine, Indigenous, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander, LGBTQIA+, and low-income individuals—have the opportunity to thrive. This moment in history demands that we double down on our commitment to making education not just a gateway to opportunity, but also a force for equity. In today’s political climate, where educational access and curricula are being contested, it is critical to uphold spaces that champion knowledge, critical thinking, and innovation. AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) are already shaping industries and workflows, and ensuring that educators—especially those teaching in often underresourced communities—have the resources to teach these advancements effectively is a crucial step toward democratizing access to technology. By equipping educators with AI literacy and pedagogical strategies, we are not just teaching a technical tool; we are preparing the next generation of thinkers, builders, and leaders to critically engage with AI and shape it for the better. This collaboration is not just important, it’s essential in forwarding our mission—because the future of equitable technology starts in the classroom. ?? Join us in this work. Last week, our CEO, Tina-Marie Gulley, participated in an incredible panel discussion organized by Barbara Rohm with Amelia Winger-Bearskin, Robin Aisha Pocornie, Dr. Maya Goetz moderated by Manori Ravindran at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) titled "From Unconscious Bias to Algorithmic Bias: How AI Reinforces Sexism and Discrimination in Images and Storytelling." The conversation shed light on how AI can unintentionally amplify biases, sexism, and discrimination, including the steps we can take to build more inclusive technology we build in the present that will impact our future.
