The Medicaid Innovation Collaborative (MIC), a program of Acumen America, is excited to announce the launch of our 2025 cohort in Colorado, New Mexico, and Virginia. With the help of ecosystem partners, MIC will facilitate partnerships between state Medicaid leaders, health plans and innovators to address key social determinants of health - Food & Nutrition Insecurity, Housing Insecurity & Quality, and Transportation Services. In March 2025, the MIC will be launching an application to identify tech-enabled solutions that have the potential to address food, housing and transportation challenges for low-income Americans. These solutions can meaningfully improve access, quality, and coordination of care, but many are currently underutilized within Medicaid populations. Selected solutions will engage with state and health plan leaders and decision makers at the MIC Innovation Showcase in June 2025, leading to future pilot opportunities funded by MIC. Proud to see our portfolio company?Boulder Care's?addiction telemedicine work?highlighted in?Nick Kristof's?recent? The New York Times?column: "We also need more addiction telemedicine, which can cut treatment costs, allow people to avoid wait lists and particularly help those in rural areas. Stephanie Strong, a co-founder of a telehealth company called Boulder Care, says that with a simple phone call, it can get people into treatment immediately. Telemedicine options were widely introduced during Covid and should be made permanent and broadened." Read the whole article here: https://lnkd.in/gYZ3SK64
We’re grateful to Nick Kristoff for putting a spotlight on the barriers to addiction care in his latest piece in The New York Times. Despite being decades into an overdose crisis, 3 out of 4 people who need treatment for their substance use still do not receive it. Life-saving medications like buprenorphine and methadone remain scarce. Unless we make treatment easier to access than dangerously potent opioids like fentanyl, we have no chance at making a dent in this crisis. If you or a loved one needs addiction care, you can download our app or call 866-901-4860 to enroll over the phone.
