As part of our Survivor Quest this session, our learners had an incredible opportunity to put their survival skills to the test at Inspiration Hills. The day kicked off with a hike where students navigated through the terrain using just a map and compass. They then practiced fire-starting techniques with magnifying glasses and flint and steel—though the wet kindling made things a bit more challenging, they learned the importance of perseverance and adaptability. ?? Next, each learner roasted their own marshmallows and crafted delicious s’mores over the bonfire—a perfect way to unwind after a day full of adventure. We ended with a shelter-building challenge, where students used bamboo sticks, tarps, and natural materials from their surroundings to create makeshift shelters. ??? It was a day of fun, learning, and hands-on experience—where survival skills met teamwork and creativity!

Our Middle School Studio's Psychology Quest got an exciting boost with a special visit from Dr. Tom Butler, a certified instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists. Dr. Butler shared his expertise in hypnosis, a powerful tool that helps individuals improve self-confidence, manage anger, overcome challenges like weight loss and relationship issues, enhance sports performance, and so much more. Some ideas don’t work out—and that’s perfectly okay! Our learners recently decided they wanted to have a ball. They made a plan. They collaborated with one another. They've set up the room. When it was time for the ball, we discovered something fascinating: the idea of a “ball” meant something completely different to each learner. We tried to talk through a new plan but found out that the excitement was gone. And that’s a valuable lesson in itself!
