?? Exciting Team Update! ?? Active Surfaces is growing! We're thrilled to welcome Michael Holland to our Active Surfaces team! Michael?joins us as a Materials Chemist, demonstrating a deep passion for structure/property relationships. Michael comes to us from CubicPV, where he acquired 5 years of perovskite solar technology development experience and authored patents and journal articles. A proud alumnus of University of Michigan with a B.S. in chemistry, Michael furthered his academic journey with a PhD in Materials Chemistry from Northwestern University, where he studied non-centrosymmetric transition metal oxide-fluorides and developed a deep understanding of structure/property relationships. ?? Why Active Surfaces? Michael sees the production speed advantages of roll-to-roll printed perovskite solar cells and the potential cost-savings of flexible substrates as game-changing advantages in solar cell production. When not in the lab, Michael loves to cook and design and build geometric models. ?? Let's extend a warm welcome to Michael as we embark on new adventures and continue our journey towards a sustainable future!

The growth of solar energy has been remarkable in recent years; in 2023, the world added approximately 593 GW of solar capacity, reflecting a significant 29% increase compared to the previous year. IEF Forecasts suggest an average growth rate of 6% annually from 2024 to 2030. The BNEF predicts that solar installations will need to quintuple to reach a cumulative capacity of 6000 GW by 2030, aiming for solar power to generate a quarter of global electricity by that time. Apart from this, the accessibility of solar energy faces several challenges, particularly in regions where traditional solar installations are impractical due to structural limitations. A technology like Active Surfaces is most welcoming in the growing need for solar energy. Active Surfaces' technology, a significant advancement in solar energy deployment, owes much to the dedication and contribution of Shiv Bhakta ??, the Co-founder of Active Surfaces. His personal connection to the challenges of solar energy accessibility, particularly in regions where traditional solar installations are impractical due to structural limitations, has inspired the development of this innovative solution. Let's hear from Shiv Bhakta about how Active Surfaces has advanced the world of solar energy compared to traditional solar panels: https://lnkd.in/gUMuPn5E #startup #fouderspotlight
