6 years and still going strong! . . 6 years ago I ventured off from the comfort of my salaried position to start my own clinic, in my own model. I had looked at working with an ortho group, a family medicine or other subspecialty group, and looked at going at it myself in the network of insurance. After weighing all options, and looking into my biggest frustrations as a physician, I decided to start Motion is Medicine as an out-of-network, cash-pay sports & regenerative medicine clinic. . Since then we have survived COVID, my wife and practice manager's breast cancer (twice), as well as maintaining a healthy life/work balance with being married with 4 kids (now 4-18yo!). Despite all obstacles, we have persevered, and continue to thrive! . I created Motion is Medicine, and this model of healthcare, to make it exactly that, HEALTHcare! I looked to "break the shackles of our broken healthcare system" and take medicine back from the insurance companies, hospital organizations, and all of the other barriers between me and my patients. I now have the autonomy to treat my patients with the best of care, the autonomy to build my practice the way I see fit, and the autonomy to fit my family life into my practice. If you are reading this and wishing you could do the same, well I've got great news! I teach other physicians how to start their own cash-based practice, out of network from insurance. I catalogued the process that led me to this point, both good and bad, so I can teach others how to do this themselves.
