Active consent is becoming the new standard. In 2025 alone, more than a dozen states have introduced Parents’ Rights legislation that goes beyond transparency — requiring explicit parental opt-in for mental health services, health curricula, and SEL tools. Regardless of what passes, the direction is clear: schools and edtech providers will need to reach parents directly and get a real “yes” before moving forward. It’s a logistical headache — but a solvable one. Systems already exist that can handle this at scale. With the right infrastructure in place, it's entirely realistic to guarantee a 50% parent response rate — and in most cases, we've seen much higher.
