Including our very own Melissa Harvey who will be presenting: DOD Digital Engineering Demystified and Optimized Abstract: Digital Engineering initiatives often face hurdles rooted in misconceptions about technology capabilities and data standards. This presentation will demystify common misunderstandings, such as the belief that GD&T is overly complex for widespread adoption, that STEP and QIF are mere file formats, and that 3D PDFs alone meet government requirements. Additionally, we will challenge the notion that current TDP standards and contract language are sufficient to define the data needs for effective digital engineering. Through a compelling case study, we’ll explore how a Department of Defense (DOD) initiative demonstrates the value of leveraging industry standards for data consistency across review processes and the supply chain. This study evaluates how native CAD data enhances interoperability when paired with derivatives like STEP, QIF, and 3D PDFs.
