Welcome back to Series 2 of YBtC Climate Education: Climate Change Impacts! In this second series, we will focus on 4 major and specific impacts of climate change, starting with drought. Drought is defined by National Geographic as “A period of time when an area or region experiences below-normal precipitation.” Drought conditions can last anywhere from weeks to decades. The longer the period of drought, the more harm it has on ecosystems and people. Rising global temperatures cause faster evaporation, increasing both drought frequency and intensity. Learn more about drought in California through our free middle school climate change curriculum (YBtC) at https://lnkd.in/g3vfi6Nq, link in our bio! Participants learned about the benefits and chemical components of vegetables such as garlic, leafy greens and mushrooms. They cooked their own mushroom and greens stir-fry within their own teams while also learning about induction cooking and food sustainability.
