To navigate uncertainty and build a more resilient, low-waste, and future-ready sector, Acted with financial support from the European Union brought together 114+ experts, policymakers, and industry leaders across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan for a Strategic Foresight in #CircularEconomy Tourism workshop series. ? ?? What we explored: ?? Rethinking traditional tourism models in an unpredictable world ?? Foresight tools & scenario planning to anticipate industry shifts ?? Circular economy strategies for a more sustainable tourism sector ?? Four countries, one region, a shared commitment to sustainable impact. By fostering collaboration and forward-thinking solutions, these workshops set the stage for a more adaptive and environmentally responsible tourism industry in Central Asia.

Photo 1 | ACTION CONTRE LA FAIM : Plus de 10 millions d’Ukrainiens ont été forcés de quitter leur logement et trouver refuge ailleurs dans le pays ou à l’étranger, à cause des destructions. Dès mars 2022, à Palanca, à la frontière entre l’Ukraine et la Moldavie, les organisations locales ont créé un centre d’accueil pour les réfugiés ukrainiens. Ils y font étape avant de monter dans des bus qui les emmèneront dans la capitale moldave ou en Roumanie. ??? Elle a également formé des praticiens à la prise en charge clinique et psychologique des blessés. Tom Nicholson Photo 3 | Electriciens sans frontières : Les frappes russes ont considérablement endommagé les infrastructures énergétiques de l’Ukraine. Pour rétablir l’éclairage, le chauffage et le fonctionnement des services publics, Electriciens sans frontières a livré et installé plus de 500 générateurs, 15 000 radiateurs et des kits solaires. Charlotte, salariée d’Enedis et électricienne bénévole, raccorde ici un générateur au réseau d’un h?pital dans l’ouest de l’Ukraine. ??? Pour permettre leur réouverture et la reprise des cours, le CDCS a pu financer des projets éducatifs. Supporting Mahoran micro-enterprises ?? ? In Mayotte, BRED, Banque Populaire and Crédit Coopératif have joined forces with Acted to support Mahoran micro-enterprises in the fishing, livestock and agriculture sectors. The recovery fund aims to help small businesses get back on their feet by providing solidarity recovery Loans & grants. This initiative seeks to revitalise the local economy while strengthening the resilience of local entrepreneurs. Since February 14, 23 fishermen and 4 nurserymen have already benefited from a first wave of subsidies. ?? On December 14th, cyclone Chido devastated Mayotte, leaving thousand of people homeless and without any access to sanitation, food and healthcare. International Emergency Firefighters (PUI), in partnership with Acted, has been helping those affected by this natural disaster with a particular focus on tents distribution and provision of care. ?? On January 23, 2025, the European Union and 3ZERO HOUSE SRI LANKA celebrated the final event of the Plastics Innovation Challenge in Colombo. Entrepreneurs from across Sri Lanka showcased their innovative solutions to tackle plastic waste and create sustainable alternatives. ?? Winners of the Challenge received vital support to scale their businesses: AGC Innovate: 1,000,000 LKR for a shredder? Star Mushroom: 1,000,000 LKR for a dryer? Teshvo: 700,000 LKR for essential equipment? Invent of Minds: 500,000 LKR for production tools Additionally, Ample Clothing and ALKE received funding for impactful marketing projects to raise awareness about plastic alternatives. Sudan: a forgotten conflict ?? Since the start of the war, on 15 April 2023, around 12 million Sudanese have been displaced, with 3 million of those crossing international borders. Chad is home to almost a third of the newly displaced Sudanese refugees, the largest displacement crisis in the world. ? ?? As of December 2024, 25.6 million people were in IPC 3+ (crisis) levels of food insecurity. For the first time globally since 2020, famine has been declared in Zamzam Camp, North Darfur. ? Following the start of the conflict, Acted has significantly scaled up its humanitarian response: ??710,651 individuals reached with Acted assistance since the start of the conflict. ??Multi-purpose cash assistance provided to 45,728 individuals. ??108,672 individuals reached with cash for food assistance. ??Rehabilitation and construction of WASH infrastructure reaching 301,563 individuals.
