Thank you to Darnell Shields for the tour of the Austin Aspire Center for Workforce Innovation. PTF is excited to see how Austin Coming Together is transforming this previously closed school into a workforce?training center in Austin with three themes: collaboration, community and partnership. #ChicagoPrize #ChicagoPrize2020

#ThenAndNow I first met Darnell Shields in 2019 during the first round of the Pritzker Traubert Foundation Chicago Prize opportunity. Behind his big smile and bigger personality were very clear goals for the trajectory of his organization, Austin Coming Together and his community overall. I watched as he drew allies and mentors close, learning from other community developers like Carlos Nelson and Luis Gutierrez all while making progress on his team’s plans. By 2022, I said “yes!” when he asked Rudd Resources LLC to serve as communications counselor for ACT’s journey. This week, I had the chance to join Darnell at a fabulous celebration of ACT’s members and supporters featuring Marisa Novara. I loved hearing him praise the ways #rudder and agency vice president Jessica Smith Bee supported Alicia Plomin, Sydni Hatley, Dearra Williams and others in producing the event. Next up: Construction tours and ribbon-cutting planning for the sparkly new #AspireCenter! #HappyClient #PublicAffairs
