??♂??? They did it! A brave 15-strong cycling team from Brown & Co., LLP took on a challenging 26-mile ride from St Neots to Addenbrooke’s in memory of their colleague, Danielle Spauls who passed away in August 2023 and was cared for at the hospital . ?? Despite the downpour and splashes from passing traffic meaning that they could even wring out their gloves (!), they pedalled strong, completing the ride in just 4 hours! Nursing staff from the Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) were there to welcome the riders over the finishing line at the Astra Zeneca hub in Cambridge, along with staff from ACT. Jane Olds, Matron of Critical Care at Addenbrooke’s, praised the group of riders who arrived dripping wet and cold but in good spirits. “I’m blown away by the cyclists doing this,” she said. “It’s so impressive. Everybody has such busy lives and to try and squeeze something like this in and raise this amount of money is phenomenal. It will make a massive difference to the patients on NCCU.” #CycleForCharity #InMemoryOfDanielle ??♀??? Could YOUR company make Addenbrooke's even better? Help us make Addenbrooke's Hospital even better for patients
关于我们
Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) is the only registered charity dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals. The hospitals have earned the reputation of being among the world's best academic healthcare organisations, and ACT's aim is to support those achievements by raising funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff, environmental enhancements and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference. We also provide seed funding for early stage research projects, supporting the hospitals' clinical academics keen to embark on a research career. This funding then often leverages more ambitious research funding opportunities, and as such can be an essential component in identifying global cures and advances in treatment. With the help of our supporters, ACT has been able to fund a broad range of projects and services across the hospitals, including raising funds to transform cancer and children’s services, further our research programme, facilitate innovative new projects and provide small comforts that can mean so much to patients every day. Nick Fisk is running the TTP Cambridge Half Marathon on 9 March for Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in memory of his wife, Marissa and to thank the teams that cared for her?? He said: “As a lifelong Brighton fan, I’m not sure I should be sharing this photo; but when my beautiful wife Marissa, a lifelong Palace fan, was diagnosed with Myeloma in 2015, sporting allegiances seemed irrelevant! “And here I am now, nine years later, standing in front of the same map, still missing her and still grateful to the wonderful team at Addenbrookes. “Whilst the eventual outcome for poor Marissa was unfortunately always inevitable, that prognosis did nothing to diminish the tireless efforts of the doctors to find alternative treatment options; equally it did nothing to diminish the wonderful care and kindness of the nursing and support teams who looked after us. “It’s a wonderful hospital, with wonderful people and I owe them! Whilst I’m now up to 16.8k it’s starting to dawn on me that the further I go the longer it takes! Going to need some of Marissa’s courage if I’m going to finish it in one day??!” If you want to do something to support Addenbrooke's visit our website at https://lnkd.in/ebZ_Gsb to find out more

?? Celebrating the 10th anniversary of #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience! ??? Meet Filipa Palma Dos Reis Pereira, an inspiring ACT fellowship recipient working on personalised prostate cancer treatments and promising new options for patients. ???? She said: “In a world where some women still doubt their ability to become doctors or leading scientists with equal opportunities, I was raised to believe I could achieve any academic goal I set for myself. "The fellowship awarded to me ACT was a pivotal moment. It not only equipped me with the skills and knowledge to bridge clinical and basic research, but it also gave me the confidence to pursue bold ideas. "This opportunity allowed me to refine my project into a compelling proposal that secured a CRUK-funded PhD. More importantly, this work has led to promising advances in prostate cancer research, with the potential to expand treatment options for more patients. Fellowships like this have a truly transformative impact on careers. To the girls out there wondering if they can be leading scientists, doctors, and researchers—my answer is a resounding yes! Successful careers are made by setting your goals high and going after them, for boys and girls alike. I am surrounded by brilliant women who lead in their fields, support their families, and, like my mother, prove every day that you don’t have to compromise. You can have it all. Go for it!” ??
