Leadership drives safety — and few understand that better than Robert L. Sumwalt Acrisure’s Brian Fielkow recently had the distinct pleasure of connecting with Robert, former Chairman of National Transportation Safety Board and current Executive Director of The Boeing Center for Aviation & Aerospace Safety at Embry-Riddle Robert, who wrote the Foreword to Leading People Safely — a book co-authored by Brian — engaged in a timely and thought-provoking discussion about the essential role leadership plays in shaping safety outcomes. Together, they reflected on recent high-profile incidents and the leadership lessons they offer for organizations across all industries. We are proud to be part of these important conversations at the intersection of leadership, risk, and safety. #Leadership #SafetyCulture #RiskManagement #AviationSafety

???????????? ?????????????? ??????????????????????: ???????????? ?????? ???????? Perceptions of your organization’s safety performance and culture may vary among employee groups (i.e. leadership, middle managers, and frontline employees). Bridging the gaps can help your organization create better safety outcomes and a culture where all team members are aligned. Here are a few questions you might ask to determine if there is a safety culture perception gap. Rate each statement on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 indicates strong disagreement and 5 indicates strong agreement: ?? Our employees are given adequate training to perform tasks safely. ?? Our company leadership is visible and supports key safety initiatives. ?? Our processes are clear, understandable, and regularly followed. ?? Production pressure does not cause us to take safety shortcuts. Would all groups inside your company answer these questions the same way? By bridging any perception gaps, you can help enhance performance and build a more unified safety culture across all levels of your organization. Contact our Acrisure risk advisors to find out how we can help you identify and close safety perception gaps to potentially improve performance at your organization. #safetyculture #riskmanagement #safetyperformance

National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report on the Potomac River mid-air collision—involving a U.S. Army Black Hawk and PSA Airlines Flight 5342—reveals a preventable tragedy that claimed 67 lives. Inadequate separation between helicopters and jets—an "intolerable risk," according to the NTSB. ? 85 high-risk near misses near DCA (Reagan National) since 2011. ? Disasters are almost always preceded by close calls. The FAA had years of data showing unsafe separation but failed to act. Your workforce is the first line of defense against disaster. If employees don’t feel empowered to report hazards—or worse, if they believe reports will be ignored—risks go unchecked. Make it clear that ignoring risks has real consequences. Act on the information you receive. A strong reporting culture prevents tragedies. The best organizations don’t rely on luck or the absence of adversity. They identify risks, act on warning signs, and build a culture where employees feel responsible for speaking up. ??
