I had the honor to present Roadmap to Fleet Safety to Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS). I learned a tremendous amount at this event. NETS has access to significant amounts of data that drives results. My presentation covered 5 stops on the map: 1. Organizations need to change how they think about safety. You have to change beliefs before you change behaviors. 2. Robust safety performance starts with leadership. It does not happen without deliberate effort. Effective leaders recognize that safety is at the foundation of operational excellence. 3. Safety has to be employee owned. This requires an emotional appeal and a commitment to a just culture. 4. Safety requires unconditional respect for process. Process must be understandable and employees have to be trained to SOPs. Consider estabilishing life critical rules, which are process violations that have potential for more serious outcomes. 5. Safety requires both individual and organizational accountability. A company can cause a crash as easily as an employee. Be sure all incident investigations look at individual and systemic contributors. Thank you NETS for your great work and for the invitation to join your conference.

Meet JORDAN FRITZ, SHRM-CP ?? We are excited to introduce you to Jordan Fritz, one of our dedicated Risk Advisors at Acrisure. With extensive experience and a deep commitment to helping clients navigate risks, Jordan is an asset to our team and our clients. ??Role: Risk Resources Consultant – Acrisure Northwest, Commercial Lines? ??Experience: 21 years in the industry ??Expertise: Workers’ compensation, human resources, healthcare, and general industry safety and risk management ??Certifications: Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Fun Fact: Jordan raises ducks! ?? She has a small flock and gets fresh duck eggs daily, which she says are great for baking and scrambled eggs! ?? We asked Jordan: What inspired you to become a risk advisor? When I entered the insurance industry, my mentor taught me to read policies by creating outrageous loss scenarios and having me identify coverage. This exercise revealed the limitations of even the best policies and the importance of preventing losses rather than relying solely on coverage. He also allowed me to develop a safety and injury management program for our workers' compensation clients, which sparked my passion for safety, prevention, and loss mitigation. Since then, I’ve worked on the agency, carrier, and employer sides, leading me to integrate HR into risk management as it is a significant yet often overlooked business risk. What’s one piece of advice you always give your clients? When creating a risk management plan, think beyond the 'known' and consider scenarios you assume 'will never happen here.' Don't rely on luck or past losses to handle unlikely events. Businesses must actively prevent losses and have a response plan for when prevention fails. A lot of businesses stop at prevention, and then struggle to operate in the aftermath. A response and business continuity plan is key. Reach out to Acrisure to learn how our Risk Advisors like Jordan Fritz can help you manage risk.

October is National Ergonomics Month—a time to focus on creating a safer and more comfortable work environment for your employees. Proper workstation design can prevent avoidable injuries, boost efficiency, and improve the overall well-being of your team. ? Here are simple yet effective tips to share with your team to help optimize their workspace: ? Chair Position: Adjust your chair so your feet rest flat on the floor and your knees align with your hips. ? Back Support: Maintain a straight posture with your shoulders back. Add a cushion if extra support is needed. ? Monitor Setup: Keep your screen 18-30 inches away from your eyes and slightly below eye level to avoid strain. ? Right Tools: Use a headset when typing while on the phone and give your wrists a break with a supportive wrist rest. ? Mouse Placement: Keep your mouse within easy reach to prevent overextending your arm. ? Take Breaks: Regularly shift positions and take a one-minute break every 20 minutes to keep muscles from getting stiff. ? Contact our Acrisure risk advisors to help you determine how to create healthier work environments for your team. ? #WorkplaceWellness #ErgonomicsMatters #SafetyFirst #NationalErgonomicsMonth
