“This bill is another step in protecting doctors in New York State so that we can continue providing the best care for our patients.” - Dr. Rachel Flink-Bochacki, ACOG District II Legislative Chair

Today, in honor of #MaternalHealthAwarenessDay, ACOG District II elevates what is truly at stake for New Yorkers as the national maternal mortality crisis continues and as we anticipate new federal challenges to access equitable and comprehensive reproductive health care. ? Every pregnant New Yorker should be able to get the care they need, supported by a nurturing team of health care professionals who center respect, dignity, and high-quality care for pregnant people. ? Collectively we are reminded that we can’t afford to lose any more ground. Today, on #MaternalHealthAwarenessDay, and in the weeks and months ahead, we urge New York State to invest in efforts to improve reproductive and maternal health outcomes.

A statement from?ACOG District II Chair Dr. Mary Rosser on the passage of ?Prop 1 in New York State. ACOG District II proudly supports Prop 1. This constitutional amendment will expand equal rights protections to protect New Yorkers from government discrimination regardless of gender, sexuality, age, ethnicity, pregnancy status, and disability status. It will block New York politicians from banning abortion in the future; protect clinics that provide abortions, including those in rural areas; and prevent the criminalization of New Yorkers who have a miscarriage. It will also protect access to birth control and IVF by making sure that politicians can’t pass restrictions on reproductive health care options.

All New Yorkers deserve the freedom to control their own lives, futures, and health care decisions, such as whether they access abortion care, without government interference. #Prop1 is a proposed amendment that would close loopholes in the New York state constitution to expand equal rights protections to make sure that no New Yorker can be discriminated against by the government, regardless of gender, sexuality, age, ethnicity, pregnancy status, disability status. ACOG District II has endorsed Prop 1 and encourages you to #FlipYourBallot and vote #YesonProp1 on November 5!
