???? During #COP29, the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) had a productive and forward-looking meeting with the Ministry of Environment of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The discussions focused on shared priorities and set the stage for deeper collaboration on addressing the challenges and opportunities of climate mobility.
We were honored to meet with H.E. Dr. Ali Abo Sena, CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA); Yasmine Salem, Assistant Minister for Coordination and Government Relations; Soha Taher, Undersecretary of International Cooperation and Acting Undersecretary of Climate Change; and Lydia Elewa, General Manager of the Climate Change Technology & Research Department. Their leadership and commitment to inclusive and impactful climate action were evident throughout the meeting.
From the GCCM, Sarah Rosengaertner, Deputy Managing Director; David L?nnberg, Chief of Staff; Dr. Laura Basco Carrera, PhD, Senior Coordinator; and Lukmon Akintola, Knowledge Associate, participated in the meeting.
The meeting outlined the first steps of the forthcoming Egypt Climate Mobility Deep Dive, a comprehensive initiative designed to foster a “whole-of-society” approach to addressing climate mobility. The Deep Dive will focus on developing a national blueprint that anticipates and addresses climate mobility as a means of positive adaptation. With a particular emphasis on youth, the Deep Dive will explore their unique experiences and amplify their role in shaping climate-resilient futures.
We sincerely thank our Egyptian partners for their collaboration and vision. Together, we look forward to advancing solutions that promote resilience, minimize loss and damage, and support communities to thrive in the face of climate impacts.
