Our center - most notably our Emory University laboratory and Grady Health System clinical teams - was fortunate to have played a pivotal role in this work. From hundreds of analytical data points used in the submission, to a huge lift to “kick the tires” to help with workflow, and ultimately serving as an enrollment site for clinical and reproducibility studies, our teams poured their heart and souls into this. It’s definitely been rapid as is everything is in #RADx, and we are so proud to collaborate with The National Institutes of Health National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) FDA Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and so many others. And of course: thank you to the research participants, who make such authorizations possible. #research #hepatitisc
Today, we announced that we are granting marketing authorization to Cepheid for the Xpert HCV test performed on the GeneXpert Xpress System. This is the first point-of-care hepatitis C (HCV) ribonucleic acid (RNA) test and offers one-hour testing, so people can get faster linkage to care. This will potentially reduce deaths from hepatitis C, a cause of liver cancer and liver failure. The new tests can be used in doctors’ offices, community-based clinics, urgent care centers, outpatient health care facilities, and emergency rooms. Learn more:?https://lnkd.in/drxWMNfj
