President-elect Donald Trump has already shown that he is a threat to our fundamental rights and freedoms. States and cities must now build firewalls for freedom: barriers to ensure our state and local officials do not assist anti-democratic forces in attacking our civil liberties and civil rights. We have the playbook to fight back — and we, the people, are ready to defend our fundamental freedoms. Here’s how Massachusetts leaders, at the executive, legislative, and local levels, can take action TODAY to build a firewall for freedom: https://lnkd.in/e_KyM4YH

Freedom of speech, press, association, and petition are the foundation of a vibrant democracy. These fundamental freedoms are particularly essential in election years. Make no mistake: There is a direct link between efforts to limit free expression on campus and Project 2025 attacks on higher education itself. This new McCarthyism must be resisted in Massachusetts. Our democracy depends on it. Read the latest from ACLU of MA Executive Director Carol Rose. https://lnkd.in/eu7YHAuy

Byron Rushing was an incredible advocate and amazing leader on so many LGBTQ+ legislative issues. Please join the ACLU of MA on Oct 22 in honoring this former legislator who played an historic role in our state’s battles for justice and equality.
The 41st annual Bill of Rights Dinner is fast approaching, and we can't wait to celebrate with our ACLU of Massachusetts community. This year's honoree is Byron Rushing, who served as a state representative from 1983 to 2018. His legacy includes major advocacy victories in the fields of LGBTQIA+ advocacy, homelessness and public health, anti-discrimination, and so much more. We can't wait to honor this local legend! https://lnkd.in/evtX-2W3

At the ACLU of Massachusetts, I recently started a Gen Z Book Club. The Gen Z book club is a monthly book club hosted by the ACLU of Massachusetts for Gen Z-age volunteers. We allocate two months for reading each book. We read a variety of different books, including banned books, as well as books that relate to the different ACLUM issue areas. If you are Gen Z and looking for a book club, consider signing up for the ACLUM Gen Z Book Club! ?? To learn more: comment, send me a message, or follow the linked video to our ACLUM Instagram account where you will find the signup link for the book club in the bio.
