关于我们
The Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition (ACIBC) represents businesses that supply parts, equipment and services for the construction and maintenance of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. Established in 2004, ACIBC seeks to preserve the strength of the aircraft carrier force and promote the value of the aircraft carrier industrial base as a vital part of the nation’s overall defense structure. ACIBC businesses provide all the valves, wiring, steel, motors and thousands of other parts that make these ships the preeminent expression of U.S. military power—capable of delivering overwhelming warfighting force around the globe. In total, more than 2,000 small, mid-sized and large businesses from 46 states, and 293 congressional districts, contribute parts, services and support to the construction and maintenance of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers. Newport News Shipbuilding has successfully moved the mid-body hull section of the Enterprise (CVN 80) aircraft carrier, allowing the concurrent assembly of two Gerald R. Ford-class carriers in the same dry dock. This achievement follows the successful implementation of the CVN80/81 two-ship contract modification awarded in 2019 and modifications made to the dry dock by NNS with investments by HII and the U.S. Navy. Meet Eric Shuty, this month’s ACIBC Supplier Spotlight. As Product Group Manager for Military Products at Bradken Specialty Products North America and a regional ACIBC board member, Eric is a key leader in developing precision steel castings for the Department of Defense—including the critical castings used in aircraft carriers’ propulsion systems. These castings aren’t just components; they’re lifelines, crafted with precision to keep sailors safe at sea. “Our work matters because lives depend on it. The products we make must withstand the toughest conditions—there’s no room for error,” said Eric.? ? Eric’s path to Bradken is just as impressive as the work he leads. After serving as a 19K (Tanker) in the Army, including multiple deployments to Iraq, he transitioned into training soldiers on armored vehicle operations before joining Bradken. His firsthand experience as an end user of defense equipment gives him a unique perspective.? ? We’re deeply grateful for Eric’s military service and the unique perspective he brings to his work supporting the Navy’s mission.? ? As a regional board member of ACIBC, Eric advocates for smaller suppliers and the essential support needed to sustain the Navy’s industrial base. “Being part of ACIBC helps us amplify our voice and ensures the Navy’s fleet has the resources it needs to thrive.”? ? Eric’s leadership and Bradken’s expertise show what it takes to build the Navy’s fleet of the future—one steel casting at a time.?? ?
