IN EFFECT: On February 4, 2025, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors passed a Just Cause for Eviction ordinance on second read. Taking effect last Friday, it covers all unincorporated areas of Alameda County. Just Cause eviction protections limit the allowable reasons a landlord can evict their tenant and is stronger than California's just cause law, also known as the Tenant Protection Act of 2019. Congratulations to the City of San Leandro and the Housing Consortium of the East Bay on their creation of the Lewelling Interim Housing and Drop In Center, consisting of 15 housing units for people transitioning away from homelessness and a navigation center that will serve many others who need services. Alameda County was able to subgrant $1.14 million to help support this important project with HOME-ARPA operating funds, showing just how vital these funds are.
