Recently, one of our teenagers at our Robert and Jane Ferguson Residential Treatment Center received some disappointing news: Her school report card arrived and the grades weren’t what she was hoping for. “In the past, she would have become angry and aggressive,” says Monnie Harwell, a clinical case manager at the RTC. “Instead, this time she did a great regulating her negative emotions and even asked for additional help in schooling to boost her grades. We’re so proud of her.” Our RTC is a place where children with severe emotional and mental health challenges resulting from abuse, trauma and neglect can come and feel safe. Our staff teaches the youth in this program that there is support for them and that there are adults they can trust and lean on. #RTC #KidsCantWait #grades

Protecting Children. Preserving Families. Since 1915.
关于我们
ACH Child and Family Services has been serving North Texas for more than a century with the mission of protecting children and preserving families. And through Our Community, Our Kids, we’re pioneering Community-Based Care in seven counties of the Texas foster care system. Our vision is for families to thrive and children to experience safety, hope and love. Whether your passion is advocacy or providing support to children and families, check out our job offerings at hiremeach.org. We offer competitive benefits and a warm-hearted culture that is rooted in our values of childhood, families, effective services, stewardship, spirituality, advocacy, and learning. At ACH, we depend on every staff member to lead the way and deliver results that often exceed the expectations of our agency, our clients, and our community. The work can be challenging, but knowing you’re truly making life better for abused and neglected children is incredibly rewarding. ACH is a United Way of Tarrant County agency.

Did you know there are more than 400 Safe Place sites in Tarrant County, which include 190 mobile sites, such as the Trinity Metro Bus and Rail Stations? ACH Child and Family Services’ Pat O’Neal Youth Emergency Shelter is proud to be a Safe Place site, providing refuge for children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This National Runaway Prevention Month, we want the youth in our community to know they have places to go for safety and shelter. Just look for the yellow and black Safe Place signs, or text the word SAFE and your location to 4Help (44357) to receive the nearest Safe Place location.

Last week, the leadership team from Lhoist visited our Wichita campus and gave our children a fun lesson in mining (and treated them to a Chick-fil-A lunch)! Lhoist is a family-owned minerals and lime producer that gives back by not only restoring the natural site but enhancing it. To start, kids were given “money” to buy supplies, tools to mine, as well as to purchase their “mine,” which was a cookie made with frosting, coconut flakes, M&Ms, sprinkles and chocolate chips. Kids mined for chocolate chips by carefully removing the topsoil (coconut), sediment (sprinkles), and mud (frosting). Lhoist helped the kids calculate profits and losses and compared their predictions with their actual discoveries. In true Lhoist fashion, they then had to restore the area in which they mined. Everyone ?????? this educational, delicious learning experience! Thank you, Lhoist!

Today is a reminder to embrace kindness, especially in the way we treat our families and children. ?? When we show kindness to children, we not only nurture their hearts, but we also set the foundation for a more caring and empathetic future. Let’s lead by example and spread kindness wherever we go—starting with those we love the most. #WorldKindnessDay #BeKind
