?? Remember when globalization was the dominant approach in international business, and we thought it would last forever? Then, some began to notice shifts. I recall reading 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Harari, in which he explained why the globalization era might be coming to an end. I thought he might be right, though it was difficult to fully comprehend at the time. Discussing this idea with colleagues, many disagreed, and it sparked lively debates. Yesterday, I attended a thought-provoking event, Effective Global Go-to-Market Strategies in Challenging Times, organized by Gary Chang Chan ACG San Francisco Association for Corporate Growth. The panelist highlighted an emerging trend: hyperlocalization in international business. It’s intriguing to see companies moving away from a global image, instead aiming to be perceived as local to build consumer trust. Hyperlocalization seems to be one of the newest shifts in international business. What do you think might be the next big change?
