Our friends at PsyAware, a not-for-profit dedicated to creating safer psychedelic pathways through support and education are hosting a pivotal event discussing this future. Psychedelic Safety First: Upholding Ethics, Inclusivity, and Participant Care with Michelle Baker Jones, Tehseen Noorani, Danielle Herrera, Emily SInclair, Daan Keiman, Akua Ofosuhene, Mikaela De La Myco, Hattie Wells, Jasmine Virdi, Adam Waugh & Anya Oleksiuk. The event on Saturday 23 November brings together leading voices for an open, community-focused discussion, the event will explore ethics and inclusivity in the psychedelic field – through the lens of harm reduction,? participant care and embodied justice. PsyAware provides resources, support, and harm reduction education for everyone—from participants to facilitators. “A much needed organisation to make the psychedelic community safer” and this event is the beginning of the shift toward a global psychedelic culture that is inclusive, responsible and deeply connected to collective wellbeing. In challenging times it can be helpful to remember that there are still so many people in this world doing beautiful things. Joshua White and Rosalind Watts are two of these people. Joshua and Ros share a very similar vision around the importance of creating a network of care prior to the mainstreaming of psychedelics. They have been friends on the conference circuit for a number of years, offering each other moral support when the vision they long for seems so far away and difficult to fight for. We are excited for new possibilities around an ACER- Fireside cross pollination, collaboration, and mutual support. We don’t know what that looks like yet, but we feel an ethical, caring, heart-centred psychedelic ecosystem is growing and that Joshua and his huge team of volunteers are a big part of it. Last month Dr Watts spoke with Anne Wagner, Ph.D., C.Psych.?Anne is the principal investigator of the pilot trial of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD + MDMA, and the randomized controlled trial of Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT) for PTSD + MDMA. Anne collaborates on numerous projects with other researchers, spanning across the fields of psychedelics, trauma, couples therapy, HIV, and the experiences of women. Anne trains and supervises students, and provides consultation and training to peers. She sits on the board of Casey House, is the past-Chair of the Traumatic Stress Section of the Canadian Psychological Association, and is a Global Ambassador for the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. Anne is also the founder of?Remedy Centre?-?a community rooted in growth that views therapy and mental health as a creative opportunity to learn about ourselves and create lives we desire.
