ACEC Florida is proud to join the Florida Department of Transportation and others to host the Tampa Bay Construction Career Days (Tampa Bay CCD) for area high school students on March 26, 2025, at the Hillsborough County Fairground in Dover. Tampa Bay CCD serves two FDOT districts, District 1 and District 7. With a land area of nearly 15,330 square miles, both districts represent numerous employment opportunities, now and in the future. Its 5.5 million residents contribute to the 75.6 million miles traveled daily on its highways. Students attending the Tampa Bay CCD will have an opportunity to climb into and operate equipment, go up in bucket trucks, pilot aerial drones, and see how the industry employs the tools used to design, build, and maintain Florida’s roads and bridges. Legislation affects all of us and being engaged in the process is invaluable. Florida’s professional engineers were in Tallahassee this week for 2025 Professional Engineers Day, learning about current legislation, discussing the importance of advocacy, and meeting our elected leaders to discuss the impacts of engineering on public safety.
