Thanks to everyone that was able to participate at the 4th annual E-Z Bel Construction, LLC Charity Clay Shoot last week, which benefits the ACE Mentor Program of San Antonio TX. Founded in 2006, the ACE Mentor Program of San Antonio TX consists of building industry professionals and educators who help high school students learn more about potential careers in architecture, engineering and construction. During the program, students work in teams under the mentorship of experienced professionals, who guide them through projects that meet real industry requirements. The result is an opportunity to gain practical insight into what building industry professionals do to transform their ideas from an initial concept into a finished building. In addition, every qualified senior who goes on to university study in a building industry-related field is eligible for a local scholarship. It may be summer, but the recent appearance of school supplies at stores got members of our #SanAntonio office thinking about how much we enjoyed supporting students in the ACE Mentor Program of San Antonio TX. The program offers exposure to the #AEC industry and helps students jumpstart their careers. ? Several of our #stormwater, #water/wastewater master planning and #bridge services #engineers volunteered with teams of high school students interested in #architecture, #engineering and #construction careers to guide them in a seven-month-long mock design project in response to a real-world challenge.? ? We were very excited to sponsor and participate in the amazing ACE Mentor Program of San Antonio TX Bowling Fundraiser event! Special thanks to over 20 sponsors who combined for 25 bowling teams all to raise scholarship funding for ACE high school students. While Raba Kistner, Inc., Legacy Engineering Group and Cobb, Fendley & Associates, Inc. took gold, silver, and bronze, respectively, it is the non-profit program and community high school students that really win. This school year 75 mentors are team-mentoring over 200 students at 11 high schools throughout San Antonio. Many of the ACE students are first-generation college bound, with 90 percent of participants identifying as minorities and 40 percent are young women.
